Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Hyundai Genesis with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
Specs:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and some interior lining to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness. This is gonna provide the 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle so that you can power your trailer's signal lights. So people coming up behind you, if they can't see your vehicle's signal lights, they'll be able to see if you're braking or turning through your trailer's lights. This is a very simple kit to get installed because it is a custom fit. So these plugs here are going to plug right into your vehicle's wiring.
You're not gonna have to worry about doing any cutting or splicing of your vehicle's wires. And so these are, this is going to be a custom fit for your 2010 through 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. So if you do have a Hyundai Genesis, you're wanting to add lights for your trailer, this is gonna be the kit that you need, very easy to get this installed. I'll go over some of the, a brief overview here at the end of this video, but they do also include instructions for you to walk you through that whole process. So definitely something you can do on your own in your garage over the weekend or something like that.
Should only take a couple hours probably if you're on unfamiliar with your vehicle and wiring and that sort of thing. So very, very simple to get installed. Then you'll have this 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle. And this will also work with adapters. So if your trailer has a 5-pole, 6-pole or a 7-pole plug, we do have adapters available here at etrailer.com that will plug into this end and it will adapt it for your trailer.
So very easy to get connected to your trailer. They do include this dust cap here to kind of help protect those connections. When you're not towing, you can store that away, make sure that that's gonna be protected from dust and moisture and that sort of thing. Now, this does have this taillight converter that's going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match your trailer's. So there's not gonna be any compatibility issues there.
This is a powered module. So it is going to connect to your vehicle's battery to avoid potentially, overloading your vehicle's electrical system. So rather than having drawing all the power from your vehicle's light system, it's gonna have that power coming from your battery on its own. This will provide 3 amps per circuit for your stop and turn lights and 6 amps per circuit for your taillights. And as far as getting this installed, like I said, it's a very simple process. You will have to gain access to your vehicle's plugs which are typically in the rear compartment, back behind a few panels. So you'll have to pull those panels out and then you'll see, you already have a couple of plugs that look just like this, that are plugged together. And that is connecting your vehicle to the taillights. You'll just pull those plugs apart and then put this in line there that will then recomplete that circuit. So your taillights will work like normal, won't have any issues there but then it will also send those signals out to your trailer. So your yellow side is gonna be on your driver's side. Then you'll route the green side over to your passenger side, do the same thing over there. You will need to ground this. So find a good grounding spot. They do include a self tapping screw here to get that grounded to bare metal. And then of course you will need to run this up to your battery. They include plenty of cable or cord here to wire, run that, that up to your battery. Once you get up to the front, so you'll clamp wire in here, on one end and then the other end, you'll clamp up in your, by your battery to your fuse here. And then you'll connect this to your positive post on your battery. You've got your fuse there to ensure that it's gonna help protect the system from being overloaded and that sort of thing. They do include some zip ties to help you as you're routing this. One thing to note, when you are routing this up to your battery, you do wanna stay away from anything that's hot or moving that could potentially damage your wire. So be mindful of that, but that's probably the hardest part, honestly. Especially if you don't have jacks to lift your vehicle up, trying to run this wire up to the front of your vehicle. Everything else is very simple plug and play kind of set up. So, definitely something that I feel confident just about anybody can do, even if you're not super mechanically inclined. If you're wanting to add wiring onto your vehicle, this is gonna be a great kit for you. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
