Hi everyone. Aiden here with the etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at this Gladiator cargo net. This particular one is going to be 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. We've got it in our truck bed today which might be a little bit big for but it still fits very well and does a really great job at tying down this full bed of gear. We've got a lot of different things in here from a large box to some totes and coolers and it does a good job wrapping around all that stuff and sort of acting as a one-stop shop to get it all tied down.
Let's check it out. Now looking at the net right now you might not think that it's 8 feet long so when you open up the tailgate you can see all that excess that we have left. And like I said before, it still gets a really strong hold on the cargo even with all this excess. Now this could be really nice though if you have something like a truck bed extender or an 8 foot bed where you can fully cover that length and get some longer loads taken care of. But even with that excess you can see all the things you've got underneath there are very secure.
Now this I could if I tug hard enough, probably break it free but just going down the road, it's gonna be just fine. It's gonna hold it up right. The totes over here are even more secure and I can move the whole truck just by shaking them around. So everything's definitely held tight and that's really thanks to all the different tie down points we have. There's 36 of these metal reinforced grommets all throughout so we don't necessarily have to get it strapped down by the corners.
We can kind of move around the entire net because they go around the whole outside edge as well as a little bit inward at the corners and inward at the very middle of the net if you look right up here. So the possibilities for getting these tied down is really endless. If you find yourself with a spot on the net that is a little bit loose like on this side here, maybe just because of everything that we have tied down we've got some smaller objects over here so it does result in a somewhat looser fit. We can just add another tie down strap. It comes with four right out of the box and they're really nice, high quality cam buckle straps but easily this could be fixed with just a bungee cord or another strap.
As far as construction goes you can see the very thick webbing throughout. These are gonna be 1-1/2 wide and it's gonna be really durable but what really sets it apart is in between the webbing we've got a vinyl coated mesh. This is gonna be really helpful if we do have some smaller objects. It's not gonna sneak through the gaps of the webbing but it's gonna keep things really well covered up. They do make versions of this net that are actually a full vinyl coating with a more weather resistant material. So if you are out in the rain it'll just bead up and roll right off of it. Or you can go for this more open mesh design and choose from a variety of different sizes. Now where the gladiator nets really stand out is the construction and the durability. I really like it compared to a lot of other cargo nets because it is a very durable material. It's not a stretchy net that will kind of conform and shape to the cargo, but I feel like because of that it gets a stronger hold on it. Not to mention the fact that that construction definitely translates in the weight capacity. The net itself is gonna have a safe working load limit of 1500 pounds and then the cam buckle straps that come with it will have a safe working load limit of 1,323 pounds. As far as the length on those straps goes they can get up to 34 inches long. So depending on where you've got it tied down it should be able to reach to any of the grommets all throughout to get a secure fit. So we saw how secure everything was in here in the garage shaking some things around pretty aggressively. It doesn't feel like it's going anywhere but I do want to take it out, drive it around for a bit take it over some speed bumps and some side to side action to see if anything shifts while we're out. So let's check that out now. And after driving around with it, we can see everything held in pretty well. Even the smaller toolbox that I was maybe a little bit worried about, it at least held it down and kept it in place roughly. It was shifted around just a little bit but I do think for most cargo it's gonna do really well on the road. Getting things set up you wanna lay the cargo net just loosely over your bed or wherever you're gonna be using this and then we can start to strap it down. Everything stores inside the storage bag, the net folds up in there really easily 'cause it is quite large. And we've also got all the cam buckle straps that come included with the kit in here too. I really like this carrying case actually. A lot of times it can feel like sort of just an unnecessary add-on for products but for this one it actually works really well because everything fits in here really well. It's easy to pack away and it keeps things neat but there are a lot of extra pockets like the front clear one, the two on the back as well as the zippered pocket on the back. So if we do end up getting extra straps, whether we get them from Gladiator or maybe just some extra bungees or some extra ratchet straps, we can store them all over the place in this bag and keep it all together. The carabiner end of the strap will go to one of the many tie down points on the strap itself. I'm gonna go for the corner on the net here and then the vinyl coated double J hook can go to the tie down point in our truck and then we can get it tightened down. I'm not fully tightening it down just yet just because I want to get all four in place and then I can fully tighten things. After tying everything down we actually weren't very happy with how everything was fitting, so I moved the hook that we hooked up on camera from this grommet a little bit further back to this one. And what that did is really tighten things down around the side. So this tote up here is doing a lot better as far as how secure it is now. That's one thing that's really nice about this is with all those different tie down points to choose from you can really get a good fit. Even though this is a much longer net than what our bed actually is and it's a little less wide than some of the other options, we still can get a good fit. As far as the Gladiator nets go, I'm a big fan of them. Like I mentioned before, compared to some other cargo nets that I've seen and had hands on with they're way more durable and I just feel way more confident with it going down the road. I love all the different options for tie-downs and I like that it's got the webbing and the mesh between the webbing. If you're looking for one of these for your truck or your trailer, they've got tons of different sizes so you can really customize it to fit the job. They've even got some smaller ones that would be good on cargo carriers. But that'll do it for our look at this Gladiator cargo net the 8 foot by 4 foot version. Thanks for watching.
