Heavy-Duty Tie-Downs

Heavy-duty strength in a lightweight package: the TorkLift Talon tie-downs are the premium choice for heavy truck campers and unforgiving climates. Made of military-grade aluminum alloy, the removable arms are rustproof and robust while also being lightweight and easy to handle. The receiver brackets are constructed of rugged stainless steel, and both components are protected by a high-impact powder coat finish that guards against wear and tear.

A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity is going to sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift talon tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush to the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not using them and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Talon Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Talon Custom Frame Mounted Aluminum Front Tie Downs - TLC2205A

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at these TorkLift Talon Custom Frame-Mounted Aluminum Front Camper Tie-Downs. Now, these tie-downs provide attachment points at the front of your truck bed for securing your bed-mounted camper. Now, these are custom fit camper tie-downs and they are designed to fit various versions of the early 2000 year models of the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado. To confirm that these tie-downs are going to work for your truck, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide on our website at etrailer.com, and insert the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and any other questions that that fit guide might ask of you, and our fit guide will let you know if these-tie downs will work for your truck. Now, the frame-mounted design ensures excellent handling, because securing your camper to your truck's base instead of its bed, better distributes weight to keep your setup from being too top-heavy. These brackets fit tight to the truck's frame, so there will be no loss of ground clearance, and these rustproof and lightweight aluminum alloy tie-down inserts secure to these durable stainless steel receiver brackets.

Now, the inserts can be easily removed, and what you see here are these bail pins that secure the inserts into our receivers, and so, you would just unclip and remove the bail pin, and then, as you can see, the insert will remove very easily, and when you have the insert removed, then these are really going to be virtually undetectable when they are not in use. And I do wanna show you that these do include caps that you can use to cover the receivers when not in use, and they will keep out dirt and debris and anything that might get in there and block that receiver. I will mention that they don't fit really great, so they might not stay on if you're going through rough terrain or a lot of, maybe, wind or something like that, they seem to just kinda be barely hanging on, so I just wanted to make you aware of that, but that is a nice addition that TorkLift includes to keep your receiver free and clear. Now, the inserts do have two different holes, so if your camper is a little bit wider, you would use this first hole on the insert to have that tie-down point stick out a little bit farther, and if your camper is a little bit narrower, you can move it in into this inner hole, and then these bail pins once again will secure these in place, just need to line up the holes, which I'm going to do right now, and secure this from behind, and it's gonna be a very easy thing to accomplish. Now, these feature a high-impact powder coat finish that not only makes them look really nice, but it's gonna add that extra layer of protection to the brackets and to the inserts.

You are gonna get two front tie-down inserts, frame brackets, all of the necessary hardware, and instructions, everything that you see here on my table before me. Now, the rear tie-downs are sold separately, and these are made in the USA. And that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

Ordered both front and back set for my 2023 F250. All good except one of the bolt holes for the front drive side is missing. Called etrailer. Option 1 - return (we'll see). Option 2 call torklift. Called torklift and left a message - we'll see what the response is. Viewing etrailer website, this is the proper fit. Viewing torklift website "There are no fits available". Photo included.

Torklift makes the best truck camper accessories period! Best value for the best price.

by:

Always a great product! Shipping packaging needs to be improved as these were received dinged up and scratched. Installed anyways as I didn't want to go through the hassle of reorder and return.

Will still continue to purchase products through etrailer, but wanted to make note.

by:

Excellent product and excellent service from ETRAILER! Held up well after one year, will hold up in long run as well. Fit and finish of product is outstanding. Durable coatings, and well worth the extra money for these!

by:

The tie-downs were a bit difficult to install for a novice but if you follow instructions closely they did install as outlined in the instructions. They are lightweight and have held my camper in place very well. I am happy with this purchase.

by:

Great product. E trailer staff was friendly, knowledgeable and made the purchase easy. Will use them again for future needs.

by:

Installed on a 2016 RAM 3500. The install was pretty easy overall however, my biggest gripe is that I needed to purchase 6 extra Grade 8 bolts and nowhere does the packaging indicate that I needed to purchase extra hardware. Also, the drivers side mount was not manufactured 100%-flat so getting the short bolt in was a challenge but finally got it. I'm giving this a 3-star due to the missing bolts and no indication that more would be needed.

by:

I purchased front & rear TorkLift Frame mounts. Thay worked great and safer than bed mounts.

by:

I bought the Torklift camper tie downs for my new 2017 Ram 3500 dually. I haul a Lance 850 slide in truck camper. They came today and I installed them in about 4 hours. (I work slow) I bought the Aluminum ones so I don't have to worry about any rust. They look great and like the Torklift that was on my old truck I am sure they will give me great service.

Installed easily and works great!

Torklift frame mounted tie downs are a great product. The rear ones are easy to install. The front require a bit more skill and an extra set of hands. It’s a bit nerve wracking thinking you might loose the bolts into the frame! I upgraded my truck from an F150 to an F250. Because the brackets aren’t transferable, I had to get a new set and install them on my F250. I was glad I had the experience with the previous brackets on the F150 because the ones for the F250 are a bit heavier and more challenging to install. But I was able to do it with an extra set of hands to hold the brackets on to the frame. The fact that I went with the same Torklift system is a testament to the product. If you can afford aluminum, they’re beautiful and light. But once everything is in place, there’s no functional difference.
etrailer has great installation videos for the F150, but not the F250. I wish they had install videos for the F250 because it’s a bit more challenging, requiring an impact driver to loosen the nut on the driver side leaf spring.

by:

About a year ago, I purchased the aluminum Talon Torklift Frame-Mounted Front and Rear Camper Tie-Downs. The install was easy taking the better part of a day including a little help from a local automotive mechanic to loosen and retorque the truck’s leaf spring bolts. The Tie-Downs have worked great since installed with no issues. I highly recommend them.

by:

Excellent product. Good customer service. I will always use tork lift products from now on.
etrailer is an excellent vendor as well.
I upgraded from happy jack camper tie downs. I like the aluminum talon tork lifts for their easy installation, zero corrosion liability, and unimposing appearance when not in use.

by:

I ordered Camper tie-downs for my new Ram 2500. I erroneously ordered TDL2126A for the front. They wouldn't clear the nurfs. A quick call confirmed that I would need the TDL2127A. I had to pay for the 27As up front and hope when I returned the 26As on an rmer I would receive prompt refunds. Imagine my surprise when they notified me that they received my return and the refund was on its way. These guys are super, especially Brenden C.
ps the Aluminum tie downs are great and the happy jacks awesome!

by:

It's a little tricky feeding the bolts through the frame (almost lost one, but a little tape on the bolt/spring helped), but a great product otherwise. The mounting scheme for my Chevy 2500 HD is strong and ingeniously designed. No drilling or welding. The aluminum won't rust like other tie-downs mounted to the frame. It was well worth the extra money to get the aluminum version of this product.

by:

My salesperson was great, especially with the mess-up in shipping and handling. (Install instructions were not included) Of course, Torklift products are very well made BUT I did have to modify them ever so slightly, probably because my 2016 Ram was put together with a little less accuracy than was needed. Would use etrailer again.

Easiest installation available. These fit perfect and attach just as instructed. The only issue you may have to watch is that on some truck frames, mine being one of them, Ford covers one of the holes with a black sticker that states, "No Mounting Bracket". In my case, the writing on this sticker was covered by a film of road grime and I had problems even finding the hole to dry fit the bracket until I cleaned off the frame with solvent. The actually TorkLift kit fits the frame perfectly though. The passenger rear bracket is very close to the exhaust pipe so when diesel particulate filter regeneration cycle begins, it will melt the label off the bracket but does not appear the even burn the paint on it so should still be OK, just be aware when unhooking the tie down from the bracket as it could be very hot.

by:

I purchased the Torklift Talon front and rear TC tie downs and love the fact they are lightweight but yet very strong. Being aluminum powder coated is great being in a salt air environment so no rusting like the steel versions do.

Received part of my order but did not receive Torklift frame mounted tie downs for the front for my 2015 Ford F350 and have not heard of status! I am planning a trip and hopefully will receive them soon as I have never had this happened to me on previous orders.

by:

100% Aluminum! Had to call TorkLift as it wasn't clear what components were AL. all frame brackets, receiver tube and slide in bar are aluminum.
Had steel torklift previously and completely rusted out after ~6 years. For the expense they should have been coated better. Steel powder coating adherence was terrible. AL better be an improvement for the $$. Time will tell.

  • What Does Board or Step Underneath Truck Bed Mean For Camper Tie-Downs on 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500
The "with/without board or step underneath truck bed" designation is referring to whether or not a step or nerf board runs underneath the truck bed. If you have these and they don't extend beyond the cab then you would choose the "without" option. Based on what you were looking at I'll assume you have a 6-1/2 foot bed. If you don't have a board or step underneath you will need the # TLC2205A front tie-downs. If you do have a board or step you will need the # TLC4203 front tie-downs. The...

  • Torklift Camper Tie-Downs 2006 Chevy Silverado Duramax 2500HD Crew Cab 61/2 Bed
The Torklift # TLC2205A front tie downs are a fit for a 2006 Silverado 2500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed without running boards that has a factory installed hitch. Fit-wise, the # TLC2205A and the # TLC2205 are identical but the # TLC2205A is constructed of aluminum and the # TLC2205 is steel. The rear tie downs would be # TLC3205 for the steel and # TLC3205A for the aluminum version. I'd also recommend turnbuckles, part # TLS9529-2-LK.

  • What Else In Addition to Tie Downs Is Needed To Install Slide In Camper
The TorkLift # TLC2205A and # TLC3205A Talon camper tie-downs will work great with your 2005 Silverado 2500 if it isn't equipped with running boards or tube steps that run under the truck bed and is equipped with the factory hitch. The only other thing you'll need is turnbuckles like the stainless steel TorkLift Fast Guns, part # TLS9526-2-LK and a trailer connector in the truck bed if there isn't one there already. You can install one using part # C56000.
