A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Custom Frame Mounted Front Camper Tie Downs - TL57CR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at these TorkLift Custom Frame Mounted Front Camper Tie Downs. Now as I mentioned, these are a custom fit specifically for your 2022 and newer Toyota Tundra with a six and a half foot bed and four wheel drive. This is for the double cab without board or step underneath your truck bed, and with a factory installed hitch. Now, on custom fit parts such as these tie downs, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com.

Input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will confirm if these will work for you, or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Again, these are front camper tie downs, and to find the rear ones that will pair with these, again, use our fit guide to find those as well. Now, these tie downs are going to give you attachment points at the front of your Tundra's truck bed for securing a bed mounted camper. And the frame mounted design is going to ensure excellent handling, because securing your camper to the truck's base instead of its bed better distributes weight to keep your setup from being too top heavy. These brackets fit tight to your Tundra's frame, so there's not gonna be any loss of ground clearance.

And these steel tie down inserts are going to secure to these steel receiver brackets. And of course, these inserts are gonna give you those attachment points that you need for your turn buckles. Now, these inserts can be easily removed from the frame mounted brackets with the included pins that you see here. So let me go ahead and just give you a brief demonstration of that. So I went ahead and released and removed my pin here, and then you're gonna be able to easily slide out your insert, and then you can take these inserts and maybe even put them in the rear of the cab of your Tundra.

And then when you're ready to use them, just take them out and slide them into your receiver bracket. I did wanna point out that we have two different holes on our inserts, and the first hole here, it can be used if your camper is a little bit wider. Just use that first hole on this insert to have the tie down point stick out a little bit farther. And then if your camper is a little bit narrower, you can move it into this second hole on the insert. So these will fit on my table here and not overhang.

I'm gonna slide these into the second hole there, and then replace my pin and secure it. And it's as easy as that. Now, both the inserts and the brackets and the accompanying brackets have a high impact powder coat finish that's going to give you an extra layer of protection. And you're gonna receive everything that you see here on the table before me. Two front tie down inserts, the frame, brackets, and the necessary hardware that I have here in this bag, along with instructions to guide you through the installation process on your Tundra. These are made here in the USA, and they also have a lifetime warranty from TorkLift. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

The units appeared to be well made and were nicely painted. I installed them on my F150. The tools and hardware supplied were of good quality and installation was straight forward. Two people would have been great, but I was able to install both sides in a little less than an hour. The holes all line up very well. I like these better than the previous units I had on my 2013, as they do not stick out as far - so less noticeable. The extension arms come out at a very nice angle just under the body. I find these units with quality I expected and I think they will be highly functional in attaching my camper.

by:

I had the mountings professionally attached to the frame. The hatches can be easily removed when not in use( and I would recommend that to keep them from being stolen). Using chains and turnbuckles, I feel very comfortable with my truck camper staying where it is.. does not rock, very solid.
It’s nice to feel secure about my camper staying firmly attached.
It was worth the investment.

by:

They do exactly what you think they'd do. I actually had to swap them from one truck to another (went from an double cab to a crew cab) and TorkLift actually sent me a whole new hardware kit. The hardest part is fishing the bolt/nut setup on the driver's side as the gas can is in the way, other than that it's easy peasy.

Tommy C recommended the TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs. The Instructions are great and very easy to follow. They supply some cool wire helpers to hold bolts in the frame for you. All went very smoothly and a very secure. I love how solid the Camper feels on the truck.

by:

Front and rear tie downs came in two separate boxes. Back tie down box was fine but front tie down box was broken open with one of the T bolts hanging out. Fortunately both T bolts were in the box. There have been numerous reviews about bad packaging and parts missing and beat up so I think whoever is packaging these parts should take heed and do a better job. The rear tie downs went on fine with the help of the video instructions. The front however were harder and required me to grind down the T bolts so they would fit correctly (see pictures). I also had to enlarge the elongated holes to get the bolt in. Also the order of the instructions was in my mind incorrect. I installed the angled bracket supports first and then the main brackets. My recommendation would be to post a video of the installation procedures like they did for the back tie downs. All the parts were well made except the front T bolts and I am hopeful that they will last a long time. The pricing in my mind is high but they appear to be the only game in town so it is what it is. I do recommend these as they seem very strong and well designed.

Great quality product. Arrived on time. Drivers side took a little longer because of fuel tank skid plate removal. Overall very sanitary application.

TLN3404 installed on 2016 Titan XD. Very sturdy product, hardware was short by (2) 1/2” flat washers, (6 shown on instructions, 4 in package)no big deal there. Install goes fast with an impact gun. 3/4”(19mm) and 17mm sockets plus a 3/4 wrench req. tip: if you have a small magnet, width of a pencil, you can easily capture the flange nuts. My driver’s side clears the 6” exhaust tip by a 1/4”, should be fine. Directions are straightforward.

by:

Easy install and just a great product. Install took 90 minutes for front and rear mounts.

by:

No worries about securing the camper to the truck using the Torklift tie-downs. Third camper/truck I have used these on and would not consider any other option.

I like to thank Lori with etrailer and guiding me through the process of getting , Front and rear,
Torklift Camper Tie-downs -Custom Frame Mounts. Well doing research this was the best way to go for tying down and stabilizing a camper. Torklift camper tie-downs are solid well built!
I had ordered Mounts on Monday and received them on Friday . I Had the tie-downs on my , 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 by Saturday. The whole process was awesome , real easy installation. Great help with videos and instructions on mounting tie-downs on my truck provided by etrailer. I’m going to use them on my pop-up Hallmark Camper. Thank you for all your help etrailer.

by:

The frame mounted front tie downs are as good as expected. They bolted on fairly easily with some fishing of bolts through existing frame holes. I have a F250 supercab/long bed with wheel to wheel running boards. Both Torklift and eTrailer websites said the tiedowns would fit with my running boards but they didn't. eTrailer did offer to pay to return the tie-downs but I chose to keep them. I was hoping for a discount on new cab length running boards for my troubles but they would only offer 5% so I skipped that and modified my existing boards myself. I'm going with 4 stars because of the confusion on the web site and a few typo's in the instructions but the tiedowns are very nice.

by:

The drivers rear didn't get built correctly. the hole to put the tie done is missing. I had to drill a hole into the tie down so I could use it. Didn't notice the problem until I went to put the camper on my pickup. The other three are fine.

The TorkLift Products need no review here, so my review is more in regard to etrailer's customer service...

I was in a hurry getting my rig set up for our new camper that was due to land at the dealer very soon.

So I purchased a complete set of TorkLift Tiedown mounts, both Front a Rear for my vehicle, along with a 4-pack of FastGun Turnbuckles.

The order was on hold due to the rear Torklifts on B/O and waiting for a production run to complete.

I spoke with Teresa in sales, and she had no problem splitting up the order and shipping what was in stock, right away.
She also issued a refund on the rear mounts that were on Backorder without any issues....Thank you Teresa!

The Expediting was quick and flawless as well.

Thank you etrailer team!

After looking at other camper mount options I am glad I went with the TorkLifts. These are absolutely a heavy duty mounting system. They bolted to the frame of my 2020 F-250 Superduty using factory frame holes. Every thing needed came in the box. The install was fairly easy. I installed the front and rear mounts in less than 3 hours. Read all the instructions first before you start. I would recommend these mounts. They are a true frame mounted tie down system. My camper was expensive. I am so glad I did not go cheap on the tie down system.

by:

Significantly overpriced for what it is and on top of that it’s terrible quality!
They were installed on the truck for 2 weeks, and used once when they’ve already started to rust. Even if they were made of stainless steel it’s overpriced for what you get.
When I contacted etrailer about a warranty they directed me to TorkLift. At first they were just going to send me a can of paint to address the rust issue. After I threatened to leave a poor, but realistic review they sent me a replacement set.
I’d say to wholeheartedly avoid this product but the problem is there aren’t other options…. And they know it…. Which allows charge whatever they want.

by:

Jason was great to work with on getting the proper camper tie downs for my truck as it was a new truck and was a bit confused as to the proper application.
I had them installed within an hour. Even an armature bolt twister could do this!
I have used my camper a lot since putting these on my truck and will tell you these are THE MOST SECURE ANCHORS I have ever used on any of my trucks PERIOD!
You will not make a bad decision going with this product. I recommend these tie downs over any product available! I Don't normally give recommendations or endorse products. These I am truly impressed with.

by:

Great product but drivers side hole F on directions is none existent on the 2023 f250. Not sure if it’s safe to use being that the passenger side has the same issue but they supply an extra bracket that utilizes another factory hole so it’s got more support. Needs to be updated for 2023 models.

by:

Received torklift tie downs for 2017 F350. Arthur at e trailer. Com was professional and walked me through the ordering and best install methods. Greatly appreciated. Will be ordering from these guys for my rv needs. Thanks guys at etrailer.com

by:

Great product, installation took about 2 hours. Videos were helpful in explaining the sequence of install

by:

Torklift tie downs work great!

by:

The product was easy to install, a bit awkward with only one person on the front tie downs but if you had an extra set of hands then that problem would be solved.
The top bolt hole on the front passenger side was out by about 1/8" but I resolved that by being able to get a drill on the inside of the frame and drilling through that way to allow the bolt to go through both truck frame and tie down. If it had been on the driver's side then it may have been an issue with the gas tank in the way. All is now installed and ready to go,

by:

These are a must with a slide in. I would not do it any other way. This with a set of fastguns and you're all set.

by:

This is my second set for the TorkLift tie-downs, and I would not use any other type. We use it daily; our camper never comes off as we are constantly on the move. In the event we have to remove it for vehicle service such as alignment, it is easy to remove and get back on.

by:

Rear tie downs for my 2001 tundra little more complicated to install than front by myself because you had to wedge between of tight access and old hitch receiver and frame. Although, once installed… worth every penny. Having camper attached to frame makes for less too heavy and more off-road capable. Drives fine in wind at 75mph
