2014 Tacoma. This was a piece of cake to install. The biggest problem was finding the proper torx wrench for the tailgate cover remove - fortunately they were not very tight. The factory backup camera re-installed into new handle just fine after removing knockout plug. The two metal arms installed easily. The re-keying to fit my ignition was painless. I'm impressed. Handle is not as sturdy feeling as original OEM handle but is adequate. Not only is the handle smaller (which is expected) but the plastic feels thinner to me. Overall I'm very happy with this lock so far.

Really easy install by following step-by-step video, took about 20 minutes. Keying the lock to match my ignition key was simple,and so far it's working great. I read a few reviews that said the tailgate has to be in locked position in order to remove key, I did not find that to be the case, my key comes out regardless of whether it's locked or unlocked. Great product, highly recommend.

My original Pop & Lock faded a bit after 4 years, so I replaced it with a brand new one. I had added a bed cover and needed to secure the tailgate.

Does not really work for the 2014 Toyota Tacoma with backup Cam. I decided not to return it so I just decided to do some adjustment and improvisation.I cannot just move the Cam from right to left due to the plastic bracket that holds the Cam is different from the original Toyota pop handle. Had to carefully drill four tiny new holes in the sides of the bracket and cam to hold them together before mounting the cam on the left side of the PAL5300. Had a hard time mounting the back up Cam on the PAL5300 but still managed to install it and make it work. It could have been so easy and perfect if they made the cam bracket on the PL5300 fit exactly for the Toyota back up Cam.

The PAL5300 is not an exact fit with the 2014 Tacoma, which is why we do not have it listed that way in the fitguide. I did speak with Pop and Lock, and they will be releasing new part numbers that will be compatible with the 2014 Tacomas in the coming weeks. They will be part PAL5500 and PAL5400 with the latter having the ability to be keyed alike with the OEM keys.

Secure, sturdy and reliable even at 0 deg F. Locks with the same key as the truck. I dont have a tailgate camera so I cant comment on that.

The locking handle has performed very well over the last year. It still looks great but I keep my truck in a garage a lot of the time. It was easy to install and has increased the utility of my truck bed and tonneau cover because it locks now.

Lock has worked great for the past year. It feels a little loose inside but still works great. The color has faded from the original black to lighter grey but honestly, I expected that in the southern summers we have. Very happy with this product and will certainly purchase again.

Everything works great, giving me a locking bed for my truck. The only thing preventing me from giving a five start rating is the feel of the lock when keyed to lock. My key must be turned al the way to the stop before the lock locks. I am worried that it will fail to lock in the future.

Product quality appears excellent. Installation was a breeze. “How to” vid from mfr was very helpful. I sprayed WD40 on the plastic clips to make removal and reinstallation of the rods a bit easier. Don’t use tools to remove clips from rod, they may break and snap off. Use fingers and combo of force and finesse!

Excellent product! I just installed it today in about 30 minutes. I am just your average DIYer and this installation was as easy as it appeared in the install video, with no surprises whatsoever. It looks like a factory installed product, works great, and gives me the piece of mind I was looking for. I installed the Pop N Lock on a 2015 Toyota Tacoma with a back up camera. Installing my Pop & Lock tailgate handle was easy and quick, especially with the help of the instructional videos on the etrailer.com website. I can now lock my tailgate without fear that it will be stolen. I'm definitely a happy camper. My only regret is that I should have installed a backup camera at the same time. That'll be my next project.

It appears to be made of good quality materials installed easy works well. I guess the only downfall of it is that I wish that the ignition key to the actual truck would also work to unlock the tailgate. I don't want to have to have two keys, but that's OK. It still works as advertised.

My tail gate lock has worked perfectly over the past year. I can now store tools and parts with with reasonable expectation of security.
My only regret is not knowing that the tail gate lock was available with a backup camera.

Easy to install and the best I can code the lock to the truck key that was one of the main reasons I bought it from etrailer, and the pop and lock defender secures my gate and it doesn’t interfere with the gate, the videos are very helpful and easy to follow ; I recommend to buy it from here you won’t be disappointed.
