Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster base plate on our 2022 Mini Cooper S. Now there's five main components required for flat towing your Mini Cooper, and the first one is gonna be the base plate. That attaches to the structural point of the car, generally the frame or a bumper support. And that way you can have connection points to your tow bar, as well as some of your other components. And your tow bar is going to be the connection point between the hitch on the RV and the base plate on the vehicle. So that's what's really gonna be doing the heavy lifting to tow it down the road.

Now there's normally five main components that are required for flat towing your vehicle, and we'll start on the vehicle side. The first one's gonna be the base plate and that's gonna be the attachment point to the solid portion of the frame or bumper beam of the vehicle. And that's where you have your removable arms here that attach to your towbar. So that's gonna be our second component, the towbar, which is gonna be the connection point between the base plate of the vehicle and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, our base plate does have these loops here for our safety chains.

Hi, there Mini Cooper owners. Today in your 2016 Mini Cooper S we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's direct connect base plate kit. And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. Your base plate is one of five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. In addition to your base plate, you'll also need your tow bar, which is the connection point between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar; your diode wiring, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home, transfers them to the lights at the back of your vehicle so people around you know your intentions going down the road, and your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brakes in your vehicle when you hit the brakes in your motor home.Now we just saw it with the arms installed and this is where our tow bar is going to connect to. Your tow bar will come with the pins that will slide through and get it all attached.

You still maintain a really clean look overall. Now I did omit a slight difference of mounting my breakaway switch down here.

Today on our 2005 Mini Cooper, we'll be installing the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1303. When you're not towing your vehicle, you can put these little plastic caps in each of the base plate arms. This will keep dirt and debris from getting in there. When you want to use it simply pull out the plug, simply line up the arm, put the tab in there. It should go all the way in making sure that this little clip here locks into position, and then, you're ready to hook your tow bar on. Go ahead and repeat the same process over here on the other side. You're ready to hook your tow bar here.
