Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Hanging Style
Excellent and prompt customer service! When I first ordered my product it wasn’t in stock— staff were quick to let me know and offered me comparable products. I ended up waiting for my original order and shipping quick and they stayed in touch with ideas! Thule: The instructions could be a little more detailed. I ended up watching YouTube videos to help me instal. Overall it was easy, and this was the first rack I’ve ever installed and I did it by myself! I was surprised to learn the bike rack is in no way secured inside your vehicle, so.. I store it in my garage when it’s on.
Ordered online, it shipped the same day. Received it 3 days later. There is a little assembly, but, pretty simple. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and no tools were needed. It is adjustable to be used on many different auto types, but, the instructions were very clear about how to adjust it to fit my 2011 Ford Edge. I have used it twice so far to transport my bike. There are a couple of items that are inherent in the design, not a flaw, but, you need to be aware of them. First, you can't use rear window wipers. Second, the back-up alarm goes nuts because it registers a bike less than 6 inches behind you (I tolerate it for the few seconds it takes to back out of my driveway or out of a parking lot). Third, there is a little flexibility, it is held on with straps and clamps, not bolts, so, it bounces a little when you go over bumps or make sharp turns, however, it holds the bike fast to the frame and stays on the car. I use mine to transport my bike on short trips around town to bike trails. On a long trip I would suggest checking that the straps remain tight from time to time during the drive.

Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount
Fits perfectly on our Lexus CT200h. Only on the old LS400, the side straps have to be fastened to the wheel arch edge, since the upper trunklid gap is to narrow for inserting the strap hooks. Mounting of two bikes is (with some routine) quickly done, and they stay safe even for longer and faster routes. For transporting three (mountain) bikes, though, the design doesn't seem big and robust enough. Nevertheless, the price-benefit-fun ratios are way better than reasonable.
The side / bottom straps are seriously lacking. It has those straps you would find on a backpack, making it difficult to securely tighten down because of the angle. I'd usually have to pre-tighten them to a certain length, then forcefully shove the whole rack until it clipped onto my car. They really just need to be ratchet straps. Even then, one of the side straps came off while driving after hitting a small pothole and the whole thing dangled to one side - Luckily I was in a parking lot. I've also never been able to fit 3 regular bikes, only 2. It's really only a capacity of 3 if you have 2-3 slim bikes. The rubber is so wide that it makes it nearly impossible to slide certain bikes on. If you have a step thru bike with one of those crossbar adapters, I wouldn't even bother with trying this. Unfortunately I don't use this anymore since I'd be constantly worrying the whole thing will come off whenever I drive.

Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms
Performed perfectly on a 140 mile round-trip in my 2017 Acura MDX. It took me a few tries to position the anchors inside the top of the hatch, but I got the hang of it and the rack did not shift at all while driving 50-60 mph on the highway.
After searching for a bike rack for my 2015 Hyundai Sonata, I settled on the Yakima Fullback 3. I initially wanted a roof rack so I could carry my bikes and kayaks, but my options with the panoramic sunroof were limited and expensive. Part of the Sonata trunk lid is plastic so I was very hesitant to use a trunk mounted rack. It seemed that most Sonata owners were using a trunk mount rack, so I placed my order on a Sunday evening. etrailer shipped it the next day and I received the rack on Thursday. It took about 10 minutes to unpack, read the instructions and install it. I put both my mtb and road bike on and went for a test ride. The rack was more stable than the hitch mounted rack I had on my old vehicle, and the best part was it didn't scratch my paint. It keeps the bike pedals far away from my bumper, and it was one of only a few racks that would clear my factory spoiler. It folds up and I can stick it in my trunk while I ride. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the rack is fairly heavy. It would be nice if Yakima could find a way to lighten it up while keeping the rigidity and price where it is now. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with the rack and the service from etrailer.

Malone Hanger Trunk Bike Rack for 3 Bikes - Adjustable Arms
The Malone rack adjusts to fit my 2017 Trax really snugly and securely. Once we learned how to configure the bikes for best fit, everything traveled without movement. The only downside is that this system seems designed for narrow road bikes rather than the mountain and hybrid bikes we own. Although the anti-sway cradles are sufficiently wide for mountain tires, the close proximity of the individual bike setups sometimes cause a strap to pull loose during travel, so we keep the bikes cabled to the rack frame. We are able to make it work. For narrower bikes, I would recommend this rack without reservation.
Works great! We keep it set up to one position because it's used on my car only. I'm glad we bought the lock feature because we can just leave the rack on at the trail site. This was a great purchase. I'm impressed that you follow up on your product. I recall your staff was quite helpful in making sure I purchased the correct item for my car and set it up correctly. No recent pictures of the carrier but I do have one of myself as "happy camper" on the Fox River Trail which was doable because of the carrier purchase!!
Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2017 GMC Acadia
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack for Trunk Mounts, part number Y02637.We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Starting with the arms, the cradles are moveable, back and forth and side to side as needed, to help out with the installation. It does have an anti-sway cradle that folds out, like so, but also folds inward. It's going to make loading the bikes much easier. How it holds the bikes in place, it's going to have the two rubber straps up at the top here, as well as one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike to bike contact, or bike to vehicle contact. It does come with the wheel strap, as you see up front here, to ensure that the front tire here, or wheel, doesn't make contact with the actual vehicle itself. And once both bikes are installed, there's a much longer strap that goes around both bikes frames, as well as the bike rack itself, and that's going to help keep everything nice and compressed while you're traveling, to keep it from shifting back and forth as well.Let's go ahead and take the bike off. Start by removing the straps here, and you can see how that unloading is much easier. With it in this position, I'd like to give you a couple quick measurements here.
Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2017 GMC Acadia Y02636
Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima half-back two bike rack for trunk mounts, part number Y02636. We already have a bike installed on our rack, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. We're going to start on the outside and work our way in, starting with the ends of our arms here. You're going to see that we have two bottle openers here, and this is going to be slightly different from the full-back in this situation. While this has two bottle openers, the full-back's going to have the added integrated cable lock to keep your bike safe. Not to say that this bike rack is inferior in any way, this is one that has less bells and whistles than the full-back.Moving on to the cradles, they are stationary, meaning they don't move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding here at the base, and that's going to help protect the frame of your bike by acting as a shock absorber while you're traveling, so if you hit those bumps, it's going to make sure nothing gets damaged or scratched up.

What our customers are saying:
"A couple months ago, I ordered a hitch & bike rack for my new 2005 Saturn VUE. Everything about the order was fast and easy. When my father bought a 2006 VUE, he wanted the same hitch, but it was not listed on the site. I contacted customer service and quickly received a response informing me that they were waiting for details on the new model. The next day I had another email saying it was available, less than an hour later, my order was placed and I had a "shipped" email. Outstanding service!"
