Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
I purchased this hitch for a 2017 Ford Expedition. This is the second hitch I have purchased from etrailer, the first being on my previous truck, a 2006 F-150. Ordering was easy, shipping was quick and customer service was super helpful. Not counting the time it took to get things together, it took me a hour to install the hitch by myself. Lifting the hitch in place by myself was a little awkward, mut I managed and it was easier once I got the first bolt in place. The directions were good, except they were written for a F-150. There are slight differences between the 150 and the Expedition. I was able to figure these out easily enough, but it would have been nice if the instructions mentioned them. The biggest difference between the instructions and my vechicle is I did not need to trim the fascia. Fortunately I lifted the hitch up and did a dry fit and discovered this before I trimmed anything. The other thing that was not mentioned in the instructions is there were dividers on each side of transmission cooler that attached to the lower air dam. I secured these to the hitch with zip ties when I was finished with the install. My bike rack fits nicely on the hitch. At first I was worried the hitch would sit too far back but there is just enough clearance when it is installed. All in all, it looks nice, was easy to install and now I can take bikes with me camping.
Well made hitch receiver, clear installation instructions, simple to do Customer service great Super convenient front hitch for snow ploughing or winch on my Expedition

The hitch seems to be excellent. I have not yet been able to install it because the bolts, etc supplied with the hitch are useless because there is no way to insert them through the frame rails due to the slot id too small to accept the bolts. I am tempted to use the factory bolts, but I am fearful of allowing the factory nut assembly to slide away from the holes making them inaccessible. I think the better application would be to supply and use stud bolts which would allow installation without risk of inaccessible nuts inside the frame rails. This is what I intend to do when I can purchase the studs
It's was extremely easy to install I did it myself in about 15 minutes . And it looks great

was sent a hitch for a 4 wheel drive when I ordered a hitch for a 2 wheel drive and company wants to charge $xx.xx to return after sending the wrong hitch. after contacting Nicole in chat mode she says they don't carry the 2 wheel drive hitch. so my only choice is to eat $xx.xx to return a defective product that did not fit my 1998 ford F-150 light duty 2 wheel drive
The hitch is working out fine,it's what you need up in the Badlands. See Attachment as picked up on the trail Cam. I can hook it on to the rear hitch if needed also. Steve

This hitch was very easy to install....I had to trim the lower air dam to fit around the receiver and that gives it a clean neat look. I didn't like that I had to remove and leave the shields around the tow hooks off. But overall I'm very pleased. I plan to use this hitch for maneuvering a camper in a narrow spot beside my home, and for a bike rack when towing a camper.
I gave this hits only 4 stars since all of the available information indicated it would bolt right on to my 2003 Avalanche 1500 (All Models) with no modification, but it wasn't quite that simple. First off, my Avalanche has the plastic cladding. The end brackets of the hitch push the bottom of the air dam under the bumper down a bit and make it bow out. I had to remove the bracket that secured the air dam to the center of the frame. I mounted the hitch in the upper position since I didn't want it to be so low, and the receiver ends up being 8" back from the bumper facia. I had to order an 8" extension to bring it out past the bumper. Other than that, I'm happy with the hitch. I just wish the fitment guide was a little more specific.

Bolt that goes through the super spring pieces and attaches to the bump Stop bracket snapped in half and the pieces were lost on the road. Going to do a warranty claim. The other three seem to be in good condition
Not even sure how many stars this should get. Product seems well made 4-5 stars, service 1 star because you have to. I'd like to be able to say how good the hitch is and how well the installation went. Shipping was great package arrived on a Friday evening, however the package was incomplete! The lack of any hardware was discovered the following Monday morning at 9AM. I promptly got on the phone with customer support. After assuring the agent that the package was intact and undamaged by shipper we got around to replacement parts. After I had to agree to pay part of the expedited shipping cost the call was completed. However the package didn't get shipped as promised. And we wait! finally the package arrives on Wednesday, it is also incomplete. And once again they can't get replacement parts out the same day as promised. Now I'm waiting a full week after original delivery just to be able to to install...if the rest of the parts actually make it. Thankfully I have purchased many items from etrailer in the past and I have never had this much trouble because clearly this experience would make me hesitate to order in the future.

I have had this hitch installed for just over a year now on my '99 2-door Tahoe. The install was pretty straight forward, and the hitch itself has held up quite well through a year's worth of abuse. I use it to run my bike rack out the front; the receiver protrudes just below the factory front bumper, maximizing ground clearance when adding length to the front of the vehicle. And as you can see, the kit comes with two sets of hardware in case you want to maintain the factory tow hooks like I have.
Great products, great prices, fast shipping and a great company to do business with. Easy install, and it took longer to trim the air dam than installing the hitch.

I bought this receiver to add front mounted 'accessories' on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I plan on using this to add an extra bicycle rack, a cargo basket, a receiver mounted winch or other 'accessories' needed for my Jeep when I take my family camping. It will also be useful for "front launching" a boat or parking a trailer in tight spots. It took me about an hour to install, although I had already previously removed the lower wind deflector cowling, so did not have to spend time removing it or cutting it for a finished look. Detaching and moving the top trim panel between the grill and the bumper is a must to facilitate the installation. The receiver fits pretty close, although you do have to manipulate it to get the holes to line up with the frame. Follow the instructions and do not tighten any of the bolts until you get it lined up and all the bolts in loosely, then torque it down. As noted in the instruction sheet, the driver's side of the receiver does not sit flush against the frame, there is about a 1/4" to 5/8" gap. The instructions say to use the extra split washers (in the kit) as filler, but they would just rattle around loose in there and provide any benefit, so I omitted them. Once tightened down, the receiver tube was not parallel to the ground, it is slightly higher in the front, sloping towards the rear. It is not off enough to affect my intended use, but may be bothersome to those with type 'A' attention to detail. Overall a good product that will add a lot of flexibility to my Jeep~
I received my front hitch for 2015 Jeep Unlimited right on time. Install Time total with clean up was about 5 hours. I have attached some pictures. Hitch is very well built. This is exactly what I wanted. Thank you etrailer.

After a year of having this on my truck I can say that I wish I did it sooner! The installation is easy as can be. The hitch is super handy as both a tow point and also as a kind of skid plate/bumper. I have contacted multiple ecology blocks and other objects in my truck, the hitch is the first thing to touch so nothing on the truck gets damaged! This is a super strong, affordable, and versatile addition to any vehicle!
VERY Easy install - not quite centered but that's no biggie - Used it already to fine tune the travel trailer into it's tight parking space. Also will be used for carhauler/utility trailer parking and canoe hauling and bike hauling and winch mount - Multi use deal! ; )

Quality hitch and the excellent service all the way around I'm used to getting from etrailer over the years. Installed on my 2016 Sierra Denali 2500HD, note instructions say on first line down that it does not fit the Denali trim due to extensive fascia cutting required; actually it was quite simple with the aid of a 4-1/2" cutoff disk and a sawzall. Installation is much easier with two people. See attached pics for actual material removed, note the lower fascia need not be cut for the hitch to fit through the hole. Maybe more work to install than the Curt hitch, but well worth the additional ground clearance.
Excellent well built receiver. The instructions however are a little misleading. The instructions refer to “Trimming the Facia” which sounds like a simple procedure when you actually must saw a square hole in the steel bumper. It takes some effort and know how. I wouldn’t attempt to install it if I didn’t have the proper tools and the ability to make things fit that don’t want to fit. Ask if I’d do it again? Most definitely.

Thank gooness eTrailer was able to recommend a local hitch installer! Evidently somewhere along the line shipping or possibly the factory the receiver got "tweaked" and the installer couldn't easily line up the holes to install the bolts holding the receiver to the truck frame. I didn't ask about what type of "tuning" was required but suspect there were likely some hydraulics and chains involved. Great installer, without a lift and special "tuning tools" and experience, there's was NO WAY i could have installed the hitch with jack stands and conventional tools-thank you etrailer for sourcing local installers! Also I had to buy a separate ball and hitch as my rear hitch was significantly larger (and too lower in the front) when installed in the front receiver. Using a smaller hitch enabled me to easily move and disconnect from the trailer. Other than the unexpected "tweak" somewhere either in mfgr or likely shipping, I've been very pleased with the Draw-tite receiver. Excellent installation instructions with some clever installation methods.
I purchased this receiver for a 2024 F150. It interferes with the two front air dams. The directions are to “either trim or remove lower air dam & trim reinforcement to install this hitch.” The outer air dam is fixed. The inner air dam actuated down by two motors above 45mph and will hit the receiver. The trimming of the air dams and reinforcement significantly weakens them and if there are problems there will be error codes. I trimmed and installed as instructed. The installed receiver sits very low and the loss of ground clearance was unacceptable to me. I removed the receiver and will deal without it. There should be a clear explanation that a second motorized air dam must be removed or trimmed.

I own a 2003 Ford E-450 RV cutaway and wanted a front hitch to carry our bicycles since our rear hitch is used for a trailer. I originally tried to mount the equivalent Curt front hitch, because of its cheaper cost, onto the vehicle. However, the Curt hitch wouldn't work because it can't adequately accommodate the slight downward hump in the truck's frame. This hump can barely be seen between the two hitch mounting bolts. The hump is on both the left and right side frame rails on my vehicle. If your frame is not totally flat (has even a small hump) you cannot use the Curt hitch. The Curt's small indentation on its mounting flange will not adequately accommodate the frame's hump. This Draw-Tite hitch, 65001, mounted perfectly on my vehicle and the installation procedures I used were exactly as depicted in the etrailer video for the E350 van. In the video, the technician uses a rotary file to expand the rearward holes to allow the insertion of the bolts. I had to do the same thing and bought a rotary file for my drill at my local home improvement store for less than $3. I did not have to use the rotary file on the forward holes. In addition, I have the larger Roadmaster front sway bar and steering stabilizer and as you can tell in the photo, there is plenty of room for the hitch.
Road tested 4000 miles & off-road, Solid, Great ! I always wanted a front hitch, it is rad ! We had a great experience across the board. Ordered the front hitch mount and had a mechanic (Weld Tech/San Diego) install it, because they already had our van to install their lift kit. They charged me one hour labor. I can see that it fits well and is solid. We went on a 4000 mile adventure with a small motorcycle on the front hitch. etrailer has been a good source for for a few things now.

Great customer service and product.
The quality and fit is exceptional. So much so that this is the third hitch assembly I've purchased and installed. This one was for my brother in-laws 1999 F350. I also put a 10k winch on a slider that works perfectly with this assembly. Other vehicles I purchased and installed assemblies on are a 2011 F350 and a 2016 Class C motorhome. Very happy.

This receiver hitch fit my 2015 Ram 2500 fine, and looks good. However, Draw-tite quality control must be a bit lax, as now that I tried to use it, I find the hitchpin holes are not the same size and even a standard pin cannot go through both holes (so as is, I cannot use the now-mounted hitch). I am going to have to bore out the hole(s) to the correct size for a locking pin, to mount the hitch-mount winch I intended to use in my dump trailer and my truck. In addition to being the wrong (or mismatched) holes, the location of the holes is right next to a beefy weld that will make securing (whether by locking or non-locking hitchpin) difficult. I cannot justify removing the receiver after all the work it took to install, but definitely cannot give this a good review. I recommend test-fitting your pin(s), tow balls, winches on it before you waste time installing. However, as always, etrailer.com rocks!
Was sad to see the powder coating chipped off the tow bar as soon as I opened the box . I can hit it with paint but kinda stinks , have not installed the bumpers yet

This will work well to hold my bike rack. Installation went well. Kind of tight getting wrenches on but doable. Would have been nice to have one more wire bolt threader. I wasn’t able to get specified torque on all nuts so opted to use lock tight and a second nut but on one bolt. Overall as advertised. I needed a second set of hands and a car Jack to get everything lined up.
This worked great on my F350 dually. We needed a front hitch to carry bikes while towing a 5th wheel camper. Instructions were easy to follow

Installed on the front of a 2008 GMC 4x4 Sierra. Primarily utilized for a hitch mount snow plow (DK2). Installed without any modifications - works good with the plow. * The hitch sits low to the ground (stock suspension). I installed a 2" leveling kit from RC and that helped with clearance. I am satisfied with the quality of the product - will purchase again from Curt for my Durango
I have had the front receiver hitch installed on my 1996 Suburban for about a year now. I have a 12000 lb winch installed using that receiver hitch. I have gotten stuck twice and had to use the winch to extract the truck. Very glad that I have the front receiver hitch as it made putting on the winch very easy. Also useful for mounting a receiver mount bicycle rack to the front as well.

After struggling with the answering menu, Steve Z. was instrumental in locating a hitch to fit my van which was not specifically identified in any data search. Weird year, 2005, of popular Chevy Express van, my luck! Using manufacturers dimensions I purchased #31016 on 12/21 and it arrived on 12/24. It's a very well built, USA built, unit. It arrived rapidly, but was missing half of the mounting hardware. The remainder of the hardware was rolling around in the box. Zip lock baggie ripped apart spilling them. I used a hydraulic jack to elevate hitch into place, and an additional jack to push the drill up to drill the 6 mounting holes necessary. No factory hole alignment. All the nuts for the bolts were lost in transit, but by a Christmas day miracle, I found 2 metric nuts to fit supplied bolts that survived the delivery. I will acquire, and install remaining missing 4 tomorrow. The installation went smooth and easy using this technique. It took around 3 hours with much of the time searching for hardware.' Thanks Steve Z. and etrailer. .
The product works great. However, I was told that this front hitch receiver would bolt to existing holes on my 98 Four winds RV. That was not true, so installation was double the cost of what was estimated by the shop I took it to.

Magnificent product! Installation was simple and easy! As far as the durability goes, we mounted two-75 pound E-Bikes on the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver-Custom Fit-2" and travelled a total of four thousand miles! I recommend this product! This is the second product I have purchased from etrailer and always a great experience!
Product is great! Exceeds my expectations for ease of installation and performance. I removed the 3” spoiler completely vs cutting for hitch. The key is to “dry fit” in place and use a metal punch to mark all your drill holes. Wire bolt feeder worked great for installing bolts. I used the hitch to mount my eight pole rod & cooler holder for surf fishing.

Easy installation on my 2007 GMC Sierra 3500 dually. I installed the hitch to transport e-bikes. Works great and solid.
Product was made in Mexico but seems to be well made. The shipping dept. should wrap cardboard around the attachment points as both of mine were thru the box when it arrived and needed some touch up painting. Seems like an easy fix to get the product to the customer without any damage. Fits great on my truck. Fairing didn’t need modified but is very slightly flexed up in the middle. Would buy from trailer again without a second thought. Quick shipping, and great figment.
