Best 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty 5th Wheel Tailgates

One of the drawbacks is finding out that you can't retain the camera from your Ford tailgate. (I suspect this will work on other non-Ford tailgates also.) I simply removed the camera and wiring harness from the original tailgate, stuffed the cable back through the frame's exit hole and then trimmed the left side of the grommet as depicted in the photo to make room for the 90 degree electrical connection to the camera (left side). The camera is then a press fit into the plastic grommet and doesn't require any other mounting screws or glue. As you can see from the photo, the field of view is excellent. This is a free and easy fix for customers who might want to retain their camera without an expensive accessory kit.

This tailgate looks great and works great. The instructions are easy to follow for the installation. It took me about 20 minutes to complete the installation process. I recommend the Carlson Stromberg 4000 series tailgate.

I had to cut out my sewer hose bumper. The receiver hitch would not lower enough to clear it.

PLASTIC…. What ever happened to metal! I live in desert southwest, let’s see how this piece of plastic holds up to 100+ degree Fahrenheit heat for days on end. Having mounted it, it feels flimsy and unreliable. It seems $450 for a piece of plastic is a bit much. Maybe I’ll just use the hardware and make a metal one in my shop.

I was told this tailgate cannot be painted,well yes it can be just use a flex agent in base and clear.

Quite straight forward to install. Good bang for the buck if you don't need much weight loaded on the tailgate. Used with the Husky Backup Camera Relocation Kit on my 2013 F-150. Simple mod to the camera kit (cut off lower wire cover and use longer screws to attach to gate where you want it.) Camera is wide angle enough that placement isn't that critical.

Hello, I purchased the 2015 Ford F-150 Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate and followed the directions. Everything worked correctly until I reached Step 11 - Reattach your factory tailgate cables to your new 100 Series tailgate.. The nuts are built into the tailgate. You need to either include (2) 1/2-inch nuts or state in the documentation the customer must purchase (2) 1/2-inch nuts to complete Step 11. I attached a picture showing the Ford tailgate and cable and the finished install. The install went faster than expected less than 30 minutes and looks great on my truck.

Tailgate word perfectly for my needs, I live in northwestern New Mexico and use it spring to fall for 5 th wheel convenience during hookup and dropping trailer. The light weight and v shape eliminates much of the fear of baking normal tailgate into trailer. I don’t have to drop tailgate to hook up. Was difficult to sand rubber inserts to fit on initial install but I got it done, also doesn’t provide theft deterrent from bed as the v opens enough for hand to reach latch on by backflip tonneau cover however I knew that would be the case before I purchased. I am totally satisfied with my tailgate.

Great addition to the tailgate. It really brings out the look of your Stromberg Carlson 4000 Tailgate. I have never been one to stand on my tailgate. I always use a step ladder so this will last me a lifetime. Very happy with this purchase.

strongest part of the tailgate ! Metal was perfectly aligned and went together seamlessly once holes were drilled.

After removing an old seal which hadn't fully filled the gap around the tailgate, I installed the new Trailseal Gasket on my 2017 F150 in 15 minutes or so. The only potential problem area is at the lower corner of the tailgate where the metal is curved near the hinge. I added small piece of gasket directly on the tailgate to better seal the gap. I had also done this with the old gasket and it seems to stay in place OK. I live in Western Colorado which has plenty of dirt or gravel roads. The day after installing the new Trailseal gasket I was on one of those gravel roads and it appears that very little if any dust got sucked into the bed. The truck also has a tonneau cover, so if the seal is good, the interior stays reasonably dust free. This proved to be an excellent product and did what it was advertised to do.

Would not recommend sealing bottom of tailgate. Dirt and debris collects, causing cocern of rust issues. So when warm weather returns I’ll try to completely remove seal from bottom of tailgate. Still get dust getting sucked into cargo bed.

The product is doing a reasonable job of keeping dust out of the covered bed interior but is starting to loosen and correspondingly allowing more dust into the bed due to the adhesive starting to fail. I will reset the seal with some automotive trim adhesive.

The seal works very well on my 2018 Silverado, with the exception of the area near the top of the tailgate, where there is just not a good way to seal it. Not the fault of Extang tape, so I sealed almost all the way to the top and I never have any issues with dirt or rain getting in. I would buy this product again.

Tail gate is ok the Curt plate and A20 fifth wheel hitch are amazing! Lori in customer service is awesome!!!!

I really like the product, seems well build and easy to install, the directions that came with are of not much value but some common sense and the tailgate is fairly simple to install with very little adjustments needed.

After I installed this tailgate, I can never go back to the original! The photo speaks for itself. East assembly with no adjustment for proper fit. Installed on 11-1 more than 10 compliments on 11-2. A must have even if you don’t have a 5th wheel..

For the price this is a decent tailgate. It is a good looking tailgate, has a lock which is important to me install while not difficult, could have been made easier with better instructions. Closing is not as crisp as I would like and a far cry from the OEM tailgate. Still in all it should serve my needs to allow easy hookup with my 5th wheel and to keep gear in the truck bed while traveling. For those looking for an inexpensive but decent tailgate this is a good choice.

Seal installed easily With exception of sidewall seal on my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. Big gap between sidewall and tailgate, Resorted to putting seal next to the taillight assembly as shown in pictures, no gaps between tailgate and seal.

worked great for about 10 opening and closings of the tail gate, then the large "bottom" piece started coming off. now a year later, the bottom piece is off and I have a dusty truck bed. yay gravel road life....

This tailgate is very high quality, better than I hoped for. Installation was easy and no parts missing. Looks great on my truck!

Hello etrailer staff! My tailgate arrived in a timely fashion but the journey was hard on the box and packing inside the box. UPS beat up on the box to the point of some of the contents are still in a truck or warehouse. I called etrailer and spoke with Noah. He assured me that he would get the missing parts in the mail and I would have all I needed to mount my tailgate. Noah was good to his word. Parts arrived today and the tailgate is mounted. The tailgate should be fine. Thank you Noah and all etrailer Staff. You did a fine job for me and my old 2001 Duramax Chevy.

The cutout for the gooseneck needs to be lower. We really have to crank up our trailer to clear the tail gate.

One year ago I purchased this model tailgate for my 2003 Silverado. I found immediately that delivery of it as without exception the fastest. This tailgate made the act of hooking and unhooking from my 5th wheel trailer was simplified tremendously. The visual of the Pin lining up with the hitch was very clear. The Tailgate did require some minor assembly by me however minimal tools were all that was needed for the assembly. This took a mere 30 minutes for me to perform and the tailgate fit perfectly. It still looks great to this day and performs excellently. I recommend this product without reservation.

I give it a four just because I feel it can be more durable there is gap from one end to the other that can fit a metal pipe.....hint hint. I weigh like 210 and afraid to enter with the tailgate down. I do like the amount of space between my fifth wheel and the gate. Another suggestion etrailer maybe make a quick release pin for the tailgate insert? So I can take the insert of quick when I need too.

Very Nice! The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. The tailgate itself took a little time to loosen up and start moving freely but did. I’m very happy with the purchase!

I was wanting a 5th wheel tailgate for my Tundra since I pull a 5th wheel camper and I’m glad I chose the stromberg tailgate, it was easy to install and looks awesome and now I don’t have to worry about ruining my tailgate. It was easy to put on, but there is about a 4 inch gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the top of the bumper that looks pretty chinsey. Might have to spray paint it to look better.

After reading instructions twice we installed lower seat for tailgate to 19 1/2 in. mark. Then installed right upright seal(see pic). After checking fit we installed left seal putting it on radius. Much better fitting seal. Had to put seal(excess from upright) on tailgate near latch(zee pic) to try to fill gaps at top of tailgate. Installed on 2018 Chevy silverado. Hope pic go through.

Very disappointed, at first it worked great then the lower seal fell off and hanging within 8 months. I installed this per instructions on a brand new from the dealer truck with a tonue cover.
