The product is doing a reasonable job of keeping dust out of the covered bed interior but is starting to loosen and correspondingly allowing more dust into the bed due to the adhesive starting to fail. I will reset the seal with some automotive trim adhesive.
The seal works very well on my 2018 Silverado, with the exception of the area near the top of the tailgate, where there is just not a good way to seal it. Not the fault of Extang tape, so I sealed almost all the way to the top and I never have any issues with dirt or rain getting in. I would buy this product again.

This product has stayed in place just perfectly for the past year, much to the chagrin of my naysayer friends who didnt think it would work. It has held its shape and kept so much dirt and rain out of my truck bed. Very happy!
I don't know what other pickups are like but Ford didn't do anyone any favors with all the curves in the tailgate. Have said that I followed the directions exactly and got a good seal except for the bottom corners. So I took the little bit of extra and put a piece in each corner (picture) and that pretty much took care of the gap. I have a 2019 F-150.
Got it installed on my 2019 Chev. Silverado and everyone wants to know where I got the light bar ! Good 2 face tape application and nice and bright too. Fast delivery and they answered all of my concerns. Nice doing business with a company that appreciates customers.
The kit is easy to install and it stays installed.
I have a Honda Ridgeline with a Leer Topper. This kit sealed the tailgate very well and reduced the inflow of dust from gravel roads in the back by like 80 percent. The problem is that the corners of the Leer Topper hatch does not mesh well with the tailgate of the truck. There is two large holes in the corners where the Leer Topper meets the tailgate. To keep more dust out you need to stuff rags in these holes.
The product arrived on time and in good shape. I cleaned the area where the item was to be applied per the instructions. After one week the item started to pull away from the bed of the truck and dirt got onto the rubber sealing area and would not stick onto the truck. I don't know if I did something wrong or the adhesive on the rubber was defective, which sometimes happens during the manufacturing process. In either case, I will be looking for another tailgate sealing solution and that is the reason I only gave three stars for the product review.

product failed to hold on truck. i used another product 12 X 12 square which has held in place with no problems.
The Extang MaxSeal Tailgate Seal is a great product.It is soft,durable & flexible.It keeps it's shape & does not flatten. I like that it keeps water & dust out of my truck box. I recommend this product to anyone who has a cover on their truck box.

Its still soft & pliable & is keeping the dust &water out of my truck box. I love it !!!
It leaks after about 6 months. New truck so it was installed on clean surface. It had has leak in center around wires going into tailgate. After attempting to fix the seal no longer sticks. Entire cargo load was covered with dust after a trip to colorado and back.
Clean painted surface with rubbing alcohol . Max seal half of it
Came back off.not pleased with product.

This product performed better than I ex pected.
Product is ok and does seal out a lot of dust compared to not having a seal, but definitely does not seal out all dust. I live on gravel and wanted to prevent all the dust from getting in. I installed according to instructions and then climbed in the box and shut my tailgate. There were still areas that were not covered very well which were shown by light coming in. So with care I removed most of the vertical seal, (ends of tailgate) and along with some of the excess after original installation I was able to get a better seal on the majority of the tailgate. Not a huge deal but I think better instructions could be updated. Another small sacrifice with my 2019 Ram was the push button open feature. With the seal installed the push button opening will unlatch the tailgate but because of the modifications to get a better seal the tailgate does not drop open on it's own as it should. I'm willing to sacrifice that in order to have a better seal. Gets a 3 because of the poor sealing of original instructions. My way does a better job, but took more time and thought and still does not seal out all dust. Maybe give alternative methods and let customer decide which install they would prefer?
The MaxSeal Tailgate seal was very easy to apply when following the instructions. The product is well made and works great for keeping dust and moisture from entering in around the tailgate. Without the seal with the topper shell installed the dust and moister was entering the bed of the truck. Now it is not.
This is not my first purchase from etrailer and I will continue to purchase from them. The customer service and fast shipping is tops in my book. They have always been very nice to deal with and their products are just as they describe. Thank you etrailer
Following directions, particularly cleaning surface with alcohol wipe, rubber gasket application worked as promised. The Ford F-150 has some unusual curves on tail gate, yet as instructed, the gasket looks to seal as promised. I use a Backflip cover so sealing tail gate was needed some for better dust and water removal if they try to enter while in motion. Time will tale on durability of product seal and adhesion to truck tailgate area. Looks very promising.
Product adheres to the surface and greatly helps prevent spray from the tail gate from entering the truck bed.

A clean surface is very important. Product adheres nicely. I Have a F-350, 2018. Hence, it takes more work to get an almost perfect dust tight seal. After one year, it functions as good today as it did immediately after installation. I do definitely recommend this product.
Good flexible rubber material, strong self adhesive, sealed the bottom of the tailgate tightly. However, the bead size is too small to seal the sides of the tailgate on 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The gap between the tailgate and the bed on the sides of the tailgate is wider than on bottom of the tailgate. In addition, the tailgate shape is curved or convex on the sides, which contributed to the wider gap on the sides of the tailgate. Therefore, I rate this gasket 4 out of five stars because it does not provide a complete seal on the sides of the tailgate.
Bought this seal for a 2020 Silverado. It keeps the majority of the dust out, but I had to add some of my own material to fill the gaps on either side of the tailgate. This particular seal is not wide enough and the need to fit small pieces makes it look cheap.
The 3m tape could have been wider. I wound up adding 1 inch wide 3m tape over the tape it came with. The extra width gave it more holding power, and the extra thickness of the 2nd layer made it fit better around the spray-in bed liner. The seal itself is well made. And the shape works well to seal out the rain. I covered it with a gap cover to prevent things from falling in the gap between the tailgate and the bed.
Added this with a tonneau cover. Easy to install. Found it good to install and leave tailgate closed for a couple days for the foam to memorize the tailgate for a better seal.
This is great for sealing up the small air gaps between the tailgate and the bed. Much reduced dust inside the bed area. (I have a bed cover also.) Great product, would purchase again.
Unfortunately a significant amount of the seal came off when the adhesive failed.

It seems to work pretty good. I still get dust coming in between the tailgate and cap that is on the truck but it helped.
Just got this gasket material to seal my tailgate on my 2022 Ram 2500. haven't had a chance to install it yet but the material quality and adhesive looks to be a great quality and will hold up well to keep dust intrusion to an absolute minimum for sure. Stay tuned.
The product is holding up well. The issue from the beginning was with the size of the gaps in the tailgate itself. Ford has not made any considerations for a vehicle that drives on dirt roads. Very poor engineering!!

I removed the seal from the truck, reattached it with 3M weatherstrip adhesive and remains in place doing what it was designed to do.
