This base plate kit keeps your setup looking clean when you’re not towing. The crossbar-style hidden brackets attach directly to the frame, and the visible drawbars can be removed with just two hitch pins. Once the arms are off, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible and protected behind the grille, so there’s nothing sticking out to bump into or collect road grime.
The base plate brackets are built from computer-cut, all-steel material for exceptional strength. The black powder coat finish resists rust and corrosion so it stays solid season after season. The precision welds and heavy-duty design give confidence that the connection will stay secure through the full length of your trip.
Connecting your tow bar is straightforward. The square front arms slide into place and lock in with hitch pins—no tools or complicated steps required. When it’s time to unhook, just pull the pins to remove the drawbars and you’re ready to drive away. It’s a smooth process that makes setup faster whether you’re at home or at a stop on the road.
Installation doesn’t need to be complicated. This kit bolts directly to existing frame points without welding, and it comes with detailed instructions and all mounting hardware included. Once installed, you get a solid foundation for towing that fits precisely because it’s custom-designed for your vehicle’s frame layout.
The base plate works with Roadmaster tow bars when used with the quick-disconnect crossbar (910021-00 - sold separately). That means you can connect directly into your existing Roadmaster system using familiar parts while keeping a clean and reliable fit between your vehicle and tow bar.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit. Now this has been designed to fit your 2003 to 2005 Lexus GX 470 and your Toyota 4Runner, the same year range there. So on custom-fit parts such as this base plate kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer. Pop in the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you.
So this base plate is custom designed for your vehicle. So what that means for you is this is going to bolt directly to existing attachment points without any cutting, welding, or major modifications to your vehicle. This is gonna give you a strong frame-mounted connection point for your compatible tow bar, giving you a secure setup for flat towing behind your RV. Now, one of the best features is its clean appearance when you're not towing. These front arms are removable and they can be quickly removed.
So as I hope you can see here, let me see if I can turn this while I'm in frame here just to give you a view. Looks like that's not gonna work so let me scoot up here a little bit more. We got a pin-and-clip connection point going on here. So all you have to do is remove the clip and the pin, and let me bring this back into frame, and then that's going to allow you to easily remove these arms. So when you are not using the base plate, you're gonna be able to remove those arms and you're really not gonna be able to know that you've got a base plate installed on the front of your GX 470 or your 4Runner because those arms are removed.
So you're still gonna have that nice clean look at the front. And then when you're ready to flat tow, you'll just pop this back into place, replace the pin and the clip, and then you'll be good to go to hook up to your compatible tow bar. And as you can see here, these do come with the safety chain cables here and I have them connected to the base plate. So it comes with the connection that you need as well. So everything that you see here is included.
Now, the base plate itself is built from computer-cut all-steel components and it has a durable black powder coat finish to help resist rust and corrosion. So I really think this is gonna give you years of dependable service. And again, it's gonna include all the mounting hardware that you need here. So everything that you see here along with instructions to guide you through the installation process. Thanks for the review and for sharing your installation experience Christian. Your tip about leaving the bumper on during install is really helpful, especially since fitting the ends through the louvers can take a little extra maneuvering. Everything related to my Mini towing system is working great after a year of use.i do wish I had bought a cover for the tow bar though. Keeping it clean would be easier with the cover. Great products and service from etrailet

Everything is working great, I installed a base plate kit, battery charging kit, stop light switch kit, second vehicle air brake kit w brakeaway and seat adapter on our 2019 Chevy Equinox and towed it about 14000 miles behind our motor home this past year and everything worked perfect not a problem with any product. Other than the clearance of the mounting bracket I noted in my original review, the base plate worked out fine on the Kia. I ended up replacing the Kia with a new Subaru. I was able to buy a Blue Ox base plate for it and all mounting hardware is up and out of the way of obstacles.
