Simple, Hidden Design

Blue Ox Base Plate With Arms AttachedBlue Ox Base Plate Arms Removed

This base plate's hidden design creates a clean and seamless look. The bracket arms are easily removable, creating a slick appearance when you're not flat towing. Because the arms can be removed, you also won't have to worry about banging your leg into any protruding arms when you walk by.

Blue Ox Base Plate Removable Arms

Attaching and removing the bracket arms is a breeze. To attach the arms to the base plate, simply insert them into the receivers and rotate them until they lock into place. Once you're finished towing and want to remove the arms, pull the pin to disengage the lock, rotate the arms, and remove them from the receivers. Finally, plug up the now empty receivers with the included receiver covers to help keep dirt and debris out of the base plate and provide a finished look.

Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.

There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

Towing Basics

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

  • What Is Needed To Flat-Tow 2011 Kia Soul With manual Transmission Behind Motorhome
When flat towing your 2011 Kia Soul, there are a few things that are needed. You need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring for the towed vehicle lights, and a supplemental brake system. The base plates I recommend are the Blue Ox Base Plates, part # BX2715. When this bracket kit is installed the removable tabs leave the car with a clean look when not being towed. The bumper fascia must be removed and replaced during installation. It also requires some trimming of the bumper,...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2013 Kia Soul
The base plate kit part # 522112-1 will fit through the grille of your 2013 Kia Soul at the same height as the middle of your front license plate basically. You would need to measure from there down to the ground to determine the bracket height. The Blue Ox Kit part # BX2715 comes through the lower part of the grille and measures 26 inches from the ground. This kit with a Blue Ox tow bar like part # BX7380 would be at a height that would not require a high low adapter for your hitch height...

  • Blue Ox Flat Towing Components for 2013 Kia Soul
For your 2013 Kia Soul with a manual transmission the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX2715 is a confirmed fit and would be the kit to use. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. One of the most popular compatible tow bars is the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 which comes with safety cables. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you can use the diode...

  • Blue Ox Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2013 Kia Soul Manual Transmission
For your 2013 Kia Soul manual transmission the Blue Ox base plate kit # BX2715 is a confirmed fit and will work great. Especially with the Blue Ox tow bar part # BX7380 that you mentioned. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2010 Kia Soul
You'd want to check with your local Kia dealer for the specific instructions if you can't find it in the owners manual. Since your 2010 Kia Soul is a manual transmission you'd basically just need to leave the vehicle in neutral with the steering wheel unlocked and you'd be good to tow according to what I found online for your vehicle. The base plates I recommend are the Blue Ox Base Plates, part # BX2715. When this bracket kit is installed the removable tabs leave the car with a clean...
