If you want a clean, factory look when you’re not towing, this base plate makes it happen. The hidden design keeps everything tucked away, and the removable arms twist out quickly so nothing protrudes past the front. Receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out while giving the front end a finished look.

Connecting your tow bar is simple with this Blue Ox setup. The removable arms slide into the receivers, twist to lock, and secure with a pull pin. When it’s time to unhook, pull the pin, twist again, and pop them out. It’s a straightforward system that saves time whether you’re setting up or breaking down camp.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis—no welding needed. The sturdy steel build spreads towing forces evenly to help reduce stress on the suspension while staying strong over long distances. Its powder-coated finish adds rust and corrosion resistance for lasting performance through years of travel.
You can pair this base plate with Blue Ox tow bars right out of the box for a secure, reliable connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately), or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to add an electrical connector plug and bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and accessible.
Designed for straightforward installation, this kit bolts securely to your vehicle’s chassis using the included hardware—no fabrication needed. With a distance between brackets of 32-1/4" and bracket height of 18-1/2", you can plan your tow setup precisely and get rolling with confidence once everything’s in place.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
