Have you ever hit a bump while towing and had that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most ball mounts are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer.
Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch HD Air will change all that.
Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch HD Air acts like a small suspension system between your truck and trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.
The body of the Shocker Hitch HD Air is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank, kind of like a seesaw or teeter totter, as the air bag, which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver, and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock.
When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, the unit pivots so that the air bag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the 2 cushioned bumper stops help soften the force.
Using the easily accessible air valve on the side of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the Shocker Hitch Air's air bag to best accommodate your trailer's load. If you're hauling heavy-duty landscaping equipment, for example, you can add air to account for the increased capacity. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your underloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.
Finding the right pressure for your setup is simple. Once you've hooked up your trailer and the tongue weight is pushing down on the hitch ball, there will be a gap between the top of the adjustable channel and bumper.
Inflate the air bag until the bumper rests flush against the top of the hitch. Once the gap is gone, you'll know the air bag has the appropriate amount of air pressure for your load.
If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit of the Shocker Hitch HD Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.
Adjusting the height of the hitch ball to accommodate for a different trailer takes almost no time at all. Just unclip the adjustment pins and grab the easy-to-grasp handles to remove them. Then slide the ball platform up or down to the desired position. You can also flip the platform depending on whether you need the 2" or 2-5/16" ball. Once you have the correct height and ball size, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Shocker Hitch HD air hitch with sway control tabs, combo ball mount for your two-inch hitch receiver. This heavy duty shock absorbing hitch features an airbag and cushion bump stops here at the top to give you a smooth and comfortable ride while limiting chucking and jerking, to give you better control of your tow vehicle and trailer, and helping to extend the life of your truck and trailer by protecting them from unnecessary wear and tear. It's gonna help reduce noise and rattle that's common when towing with standard ball mounts. Now this is going to fit your two-inch hitch receiver, however, I do wanna point out that this will not fit a two and a half inch hitch receiver, even with a reducer sleeve, because trucks with a two and a half inch hitch typically have deeper frames and this is not going to fit SUVs or CUVs or sedans due to limited clearance. Now this does require a minimum of seven inches of clearance between the center of your hitch pin hole and the rear most part of your truck, and five inches of clearance below the bottom of your hitch receiver tube.
Your receiver opening should be flush with your bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle for the best fit. Now this is going to hook your trailer to your tow vehicle, with this included combination hitch ball with the sway bar tabs. I'm gonna give you a brief overhead look here just to show you this attachment from overhead. So, taking a look overhead, you can see our sway control tabs and these do have holes that are five eighths of an inch in diameter. Those are gonna accept your basic sway control arm bars and mini balls, of course those are sold separately.
The gross towing weight with the two and five sixteenth inch ball is 20,000 pounds. The tongue weight is 2,000 pounds. The gross towing weight with two-inch ball is 10,000 pounds, and the tongue weight is 1,000 pounds, but you do wanna remember that a towing setup is always limited by its lowest rated component, whether that be your vehicle, your hitch, another component, or even the accessory that you're using here. Now this does include two easy to remove pins. As you can see, these do have large rings, they're gonna be very easy to grip.
I can fit at least four of my fingers through each of those rings. And, so, no more fumbling with small hitch pin heads. We also have these large safety clips that's going to make securing the clips very easy. I'm gonna go ahead and remove the clips here real quick, and then I'm gonna go ahead and remove the pins and just show you how easy it is to adjust the height of this ball platform and even the ball itself. So I'm gonna take this from the two-inch ball, and I'm gonna flip it to the two and five sixteenths inch ball, lower it here just a little bit and replace the pins.
The pins slide in and out very easily and so you're not gonna be struggling at the back of your vehicle when you're trying to make some adjustments, whether it's the height, the drop adjustment that you're working with, or if you wanna switch balls. It's not going to be a struggle for you. So, just replacing my pins, you're gonna have a drop range with this from about half an inch to three and a half inches. The inside channel width is three and three quarters inches, and then the distance between the vertical adjustment holes on center is an inch. So, this is going to be compatible with any shocker hitch accessory. And our steel combo ball unit with the sway control tabs here, this has a really nice silver powder coat finish that's going to help resist rust and corrosion. Now the body of this shocker hitch is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank. It's kinda like a seesaw or teeter totter as the airbag which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver and the cushioned bumpers are gonna take turns absorbing the road shock, and you can get a better view there of those bumpers there. Now, when you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, this unit's going to pivot, so that the airbag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the two cushion bumpers are gonna help soften the force. Now this airbag is easily adjustable, for heavier loads you'll just add more air, for lighter loads, you'll let some air out. To determine the correct amount of air to use, just hook your trailer up and then load it up the way that you are going to tow it, and then you are going to add air until these bumper stops begin to compress. And when they begin to compress, then you should have the right amount of air in the airbag for your load. And then, as you can see, it's going to be very easy to fill the airbag up with air or let air out with that valve there, and then there's a cap here that's included to prevent any accidental air loss. So, very easy to adjust the air on this airbag. On the other side, I did wanna point out we do have a Zerk fitting here for easy maintenance of that pivot point, making it very easy to lubricate. This is made here in the USA of grade 50 steel plate construction and a cold rolled steel shank to give you maximum durability. This has also been shot blasted and powder coated to prevent rust. So, again, this is gonna fit your two-inch trailer hitch receiver. The hitch pin hole diameter is five eighths of an inch. This does not include a pin and clip, so if you don't have a compatible pin and clip, you will have to pick that up separately. However, I do, since this is an investment, I do recommend checking out our locking pin option. So, on your screen, I am including our item number to the InfiniteRule locking pins. And you can just take that item number, put it in the search field of our website, that will take you to those locking pins. You can add that to your order and secure this to your vehicle so someone just can't come by, take that off and make it their own. So, a good protection of your investment. Now, just some other measurements to leave you with in case you're interested. The distance from the first hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, we're sitting at about 10 and a quarter inches. And then from the second hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, again, about add an inch to that, so about 11 and a quarter inches. And then the distance from the second hitch pin hole to the end of our shank, about two and three quarters inches. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
This hitch is guaranteed a smooth ride it worked amazing on my F250 pulling a 36' enclosed triple axel trailer. The hitch itself helped alot with sway. The hitch does more than it says is an absolutely great product. The trailer was very friendly and very helpful and shipping Was dead on time. Very high quality product and very easy and simple to install and to change the ball from 2 and 5 sixteenths to 2" is a breeze. Adding air and taking air out of the bag is simple As you add air you can see it rise and start working. I will be purchasing another one.
Great product, well built and looks nice. I’m ready to give it a shot….

Still working amazing, so much smoother than a standard ball hitch. Easy enough to use that my wife uses it for her trailer.
