How's it going neighbors Today we're gonna take a look at the Captain from Patriot Hitches. This guy is a 30,000 pound, five way ball mount that's gonna work for a multitude of different types of situations. So let's take a closer look at how it's made and what it does for us. The Captain is available in three different colorways. You have the gloss black, gloss red, and gloss blue to go against the matte finishes of the same color. So out of the box, you're gonna have a lot of versatility as far as what you can tow with this guy.
You're gonna have a lunette ring adapter, as well as being capable for a two and five sixteenths ball, two inch ball. You actually have a ring for toe straps as well as an inch and seven eighths adapter. Now this guy, overall, has the length of right at 12 inches. The thing that stands out to me is the fact that it's solid steel. So outside of the bruises and scrapes that most ball mounts are gonna get, this is gonna hold up against the lifetime of abuse.
Now, one thing to keep in mind with this also, you can always hit it with some spray paint if you're worried about the appearance of it, but the metal underneath is treated so you don't have to worry about chunks of it flaking off. So again, overall length is right at 12 inches. Your overall width, going from side to side and up and down is the same at seven and five eighths inch. Now as far as the distance on your holes, you're at two and a half inches from the rear here, at the farthest hole, and the nearest hole to the center of ball is four and three sixteenths. Now you're gonna have a pencil hole diameter of six and a half, so just keep that in mind, and overall, I would say this is a pretty handy piece of equipment if you don't know what you're gonna be pulling.
So now we're gonna go ahead and put the Captain to use. I have this enclosed trailer here in my studio. I'm gonna go ahead and hook it up to this F-150 using the two and five sixteenths ball. So I'm gonna back up and get this guy moving. (engine hums) Also, since you have the lunette ring adapter, I'm just gonna go ahead and hook it up to this surplus trailer we have just hanging out back here, just so you can see a idea of how well that fits.
Now I have to roll forward a little bit to get that adjustment correct, but after that, you're just gonna insert your pin, and you're ready to ride. Now naturally, you know you're gonna hook up your trailer lights as well as your safety cables, but just to see how the lunette ring looks. There you are right there. Patriot Hitches have a great reputation as far as being heavy duty, and holding out for the long haul. And once you receive your hitch and put it to work, I want to know what you think about it 'cause I love having that interaction with you. Now this is a veteran-owned company as well as made right here in the U.S. So that's good for everyone. So once again, this is Ed with etrailer.com, taking a look at the Patriot hitches, the Captain, 30,000 pound five-way ball mount. Have a great day.

Hey, Dale. I'm trying to visualize what you mean by hitch lock down. If you could send me a picture or explain it more. I can see if there is a different solution to help get you to what you want.

Well I am glad we were able to get it right. What all are you planning on towing with this?
