Uneven trailer height can make towing feel unstable. This fixed mount gives a full 6" drop from the top of the hitch opening, helping you keep large trailers like campers, boats, or equipment haulers level and steady. With everything set at the right height, your load tracks straighter and brakes more evenly for a smoother tow.
If you regularly move heavy loads, you’ll want a mount that can take serious pressure. This one’s rated for 15,000 lbs gross towing weight and 1,500 lbs tongue weight. It’s solid, one-piece forged steel—no welds or joints to flex under load—so it stays rigid even with double-axle or large utility trailers. It’s made to handle heavy-duty towing without drama.
No need to mess with torque wrenches or second-guess your setup. The included 2-5/16" chrome-plated ball comes factory-torqued to spec, so it’s ready to go the moment you slide it into your 2" x 2" receiver. Pin and clip or hitch lock are sold separately, letting you choose your preferred securing method while still getting a mount that’s ready for work right out of the package.
Towing gear takes a beating from road grime and weather, but this mount fights back with a carbide black powder coat on the shank and a corrosion-resistant chrome plating on the ball. Those finishes help prevent rust and chipping so your setup keeps looking clean and performing dependably through every season.
Sometimes simpler is better. The fixed ball mount design means fewer moving parts—nothing to adjust, loosen, or rattle over time. Once it’s pinned in place, it stays steady through every haul. It’s a straightforward solution built for folks who just want a solid connection that works every time they hook up their trailer.

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Curt heavy-duty forged ball mount for a 2-inch hitch with a 2 5/16 ball and a 6-inch drop. Now the glory of this ball mount here is it does come with the ball and the ball's actually gonna be pre-torqued onto there. And that's something that people don't really consider until they have to torque down their ball because you need a torque wrench that's gonna have that torque setting that's gonna go high enough and also a socket that can fit on here. And a lot of times you're trying to use a wrench on top and torque this down, so it can be a little bit tricky to make sure that they're properly torqued. So having this already torqued down is one less step that you'll have to do. Now, this is a 6-inch drop.
Now you do have the availability for a 5-inch rise, which is gonna open it up to the different applications that you can use this for. You are gonna have to actually get that ball re-torqued and flip it around. But to have that ability available is really nice. Speaking of applications, this is pretty heavy duty, as the name implies. The ball, as well as the ball mount, are rated for 15,000 pounds with a tongue weight rating of 1500.
So it's pretty heavy duty. You just need to make sure that your truck can actually handle that weight as well as the hitch on the vehicle. Now the ball mount is solid steel construction and the ball is a steel construction as well with a chrome finish. Now this black powder coat carbide finish is matte and it looks really sharp and it's gonna be looking sharp for a long time as it's gonna resist corrosion and rust. Now, the pin and clip is not included with the ball mount but we do have plenty of options here available at etrailer including locking ones, and that way you can actually lock this in place and know that no one's gonna walk away with it in their hands.
Now we're lowering our coupler on our trailer, which is the 2 5/16, to our ball mount right here. Now, if you do have different trailers that have a different coupler size, you can actually get a different ball to go on this same ball mount. You're just gonna wanna make sure that it has that same inch and a quarter hole diameter and you should be able to swap those out and then re-torque them down, you'll be ready to go. So now with our trailer loaded up and our safety chains hooked up as well as our electrical, we're ready to tow. And that was a look at the Curt heavy-duty forged ball mount for a 2-inch hitch with a 2 5/16 ball and a 6-inch drop..

Hitch ball mount looks good and fits in the tube. There is a little wiggle in the tube but doesn’t seem to be enough to cause trouble. I need to invert the mount to get a 1/2” rise but the nut is 7/8” flat to flat. I don’t have a socket big enough to fit that. So I’m either going to have to buy or borrow one.
Outstanding chunk of forged steel. I like this because I just have trust issues with a welded hitchbar towing a 12k trailer and putting 50k+ miles/year on it. LOVE the fact that it comes with the ball already installed and torqued to spec. Take it out of the box, lock it onto the truck, and hit the road!
1st: package was in great shape
2nd: idems were delivered quickly
3rd: hitch and lock pin are well made heavy duty, sold.
5th :fits the truck and trailer perfectly and looks great!
Curt products are great. Built like a brick s*** house. I won’t even consider any other brand. I’ve used them for decades and have zero issues with them. Got a new truck that has a 2 1/2 hitch so I had to get a bigger set.
The ball mount is great. Aligns the truck and trailer just right so I can avoid using my clunky and heavy adjustable ball mount.
The pin is ok. Seems a little thin but I reckon it’s solid. The clip though is problematic. Real hard to press in. Scraped my knuckles a couple of times. It’s the angle and or the length of the wire where it begins to assemble. Too short or maybe wrong angle. Hope you understand what im saying.
Thanks
There's a lot of fancy ball mounts out there. I like the tried and true "huge chunk of steel" option. Those fancy ball mounts come with a lot of failure points as well. This is a massive piece of metal, with a ball and a pin. That's it. People have been towing this way forever. Why risk being fancy and watching your trailer pass you on the freeway? Find the drop you need, get a big hitch like this and call it a day. These hitches are cheaper and stronger than nearly anything out there.
Heavy duty (very heavy)seems to be a better stable towing hitch compared to the adjustable hitches .Great quality ,etrailer had fast gree shipping
Item as described at a good price.
very nice, solid build
Exactly as advertised and actually got delivered a day early
Does exactly what should. No issues, solid well made perfect.
Great customer service and great products! Earned a new new costumer for a very long time. Was user impressed with their prices, selection, and willingness to help me
I t looks like an excellent product but I will have to return it (no fault of yours) because it is not the right hitch for my trailer and I have no other use for it. The person who sold me the trailer gave me the equipment that works for it so I am returning your product.
Use this to pull my car trailer behind the motorhome. Works as expected
Joshua K, the Customer Service Rep with whom I called in and spoke with gets a bazillion stars. The online description doesn’t include if it is qualified to give rise or not.
Josh checked through the product description and figured I could remove the ball, invert it (and recalibrate) and get 5“ of rise. Josh assured me after checking my zipcode that even when selecting free shipping I would have it by the weekend. I ordered on Tuesday morning and it arrived Thursday - 2 days later!
I unpacked the box and was pleased to read that it is qualified for 5“ rise. Very assuring since I wasn’t sure and trailering can be stressful as is.
I really appreciate Joshua K’s customer service. Thanks for making this an efficient and pleasant experience!
Solid metal 6 inch drop ball mount that works well with my Tacoma with a 6 inch lift. I towed an over 4,000 lbs Winnebago Micro Minnie with it. So far, it feels much more stable than my old adjustable drop down hitch.
Return policy sucks! Done with your com pany
Heavy duty and ball mounted saves me the hassle. The new F350’s are taller and had to make adjustments for the cargo trailer and 5th wheel. I can count on etrailer to have what I need.
