Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Reese Towpower 8,000 pound farm jack with a 48 inch lift. Now, with that 48 inch lift, this farm jack is great for lifting, pulling clamping, and spreading. You can pull up fence posts, tear out stumps, and more, and it is also great to take along and be prepared for off road excursions. This is a nice sturdy steel jack, it has this 36 inch long removable handle, that has a nice corrosion resistant finish to it. And that long handle makes ratcheting easier by multiplying the effort that you use.
It helps keep the operator also at a safe distance. It is a black powder coated steel, which is corrosion resistant. If you notice right up the top here, it has this clamp bolted on here at the top of the jack. And then right down here is your lifting point, at the bottom here. Now to raise the load, what you need to do is first lift this reversing latch right here, it's spring loaded. So if you lift it up far enough, it'll latch into that notch right there.
And then once it locks in place, you can pull the handle down to raise your load. You can hear it click as you raise it, and then just do it again. And then each time you go up and down to go raise it, you can see, very simple to operate. Now to lower the load, what you need to do is make sure the handle is in the upright position. And then what you want to do is trip the reversing latch so that it goes to the down position, so just push it like that. So it's out of there, it's unlocked, it's in the down position.
And then what'll happen is if there's no load on this, it'll just actually drop by itself, you can see just like that. But if you do have at least 110 pounds on that lifting point right there, you can ratchet it down a link at a time if there's a load on there. If not, it would just drop to the bottom. It has this nice durable PVC handle holder right up here, which will secure the handle, eliminates any rattle during travel. So if you're not using it, you can just slide this down over the handle, just like that. And then once you get, it'll hold it into place.
And then to use it, just slide it right off. The handle can also be removed, there's a bolt in it right down here that you can unbolt and remove the handle for storage or travel. Now if you look at the bottom here, it does include this four inch by seven inch foot plate. Now they do also offer a larger 10 inch by 10 inch foot plate that this can set in.If you need to provide a wider base for extra stability, we do sell that 10 inch by 10 inch foot plate separately on our website. It's part number RP7048400, and it's listed on this product page as a related product. A few specs on this again, the overall height is 54 inches. The lift is going to be 48 inches. Handle length, we mentioned is 36 inches, and the weight capacity on this is 8,000 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this Reese Towpower 8,000 pound farm jack with the 48 inch lift.

It works great! You should include a few extra cotter pins with it. Not a big deal since most hardware stores have cotter pins.
