You have a few options for cleaning the pins of a trailer connector.
You could use a wire brush, some fine grit sandpaper, or even Coca-Cola and an old toothbrush. Coke does a great job cleaning corrosion believe it or not. You'll want to rinse the soda off after though since sugary drinks leave a sticky residue.
