Outer Bearing Recommendation to Replace L44645
Published 11/10/2014 >
Question:
I have a home made V-Drive boat trailer. I removed bearings and hub. Inside bearing is Timken #L68149, race #L68111. My problem starts with the outer bearing and race. They are, bearing - Timken #L44645, race - #L44613. These are real expensive. But I noticed trailer bearing and race kits, with the same #L68149 inside and #L44649 outside bearing with #L44610 race. Do you think these will work on my spindle and Dico hub? The specs are a little different on these outside bearing/race. FYI - #L44645 Timken bearings are $ 57.00 to $ 90.00 EACH! Online. Hope you can be some help. Thank you.

Unless you can find bearings and races that are exact matches for the ones in your hub currently I can't recommend you attempt to install bearings that are different. I know they are expensive but the best option I can recommend would be for you to go with the correct part numbers as they are a guaranteed fit.
It wouldn't be possible to use bearings with different dimensions.
