Can Furrion Chill Cube Replace Dometic Penguin II RV AC Units and Control Furnace

Question:

I have a 2014 DRV with two ducted Dometic Penguin II 15K ACs that i am interested in possibly replacing with the Furrion chill 18Ks. The system uses the Dometic CCC2 thermostat and RJ11 communication wires for the thermostat to AC controls. I also have two furnaces controlled from the Penguins. Am I able to replace these two ACs and retain my current thermostat and wiring? If so what adapter kits would be required?

Hey Spencer, you can replacement your Dometic Penguin II AC Units with the Furrion Chill Cube part # FR99TD but these would both be considered single zone units that wouldn't be able to connect to a single thermostat. With that said the included thermostat is compatible with furnaces so you would be able to control your furnace from the Chill Cube thermostat.

This will not be able to be controlled by your Dometic thermostat though.

I have a 2021 Thor Outlaw 38mb with two two ducted Dometic Penguin II 13.5 ACs controlled by a FireFly system. Can I wire the firefly system to the Furrion Chill Cube?

@Raymond(ray)S The Furrion Chill Cube can only be used with the thermostat that it was designed to work with. I wish there was a way we could guarantee would allow it to integrate into your Firefly system but we've been told there's no consistent way that works so to avoid it.

@JamesonC that for the quick response. What are your thoughts on upgrading to Penguin II 15K ACs?

@Raymond Not bad at all. We used to carry them and they were solid.
