Need Tail Lights And Wiring For 5x7 Utility Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
Hello! I recently bought an old trailer from a neighbor for hauling. The cab is. maybe 7x5. I bought a trailer hitch from trailer many years ago for my Mazda CX-5, and just looking for two lights for the back of this trailer to be able to plug into my hitch so that its clear when I am putting the brakes on. I see some of these are clearance lights, etc., and am not the most familiar, but, I just need two red round lights to attach so that someone behind can see, from the back of their little trailer, when I hit the brakes. Just looking for an inexpensive, easy to install, option. Thanks! Greg

Hello Greg, thanks for reaching out. Really any stop, turn, taillight could work for that purpose. The Optronics LED Trailer Tail Light # STL42RB will be a great option as long as your have a solid surface to mount to. The mounting holes are 4-1/4" apart on center.
To wire them up you will need the Right Angle 3-Wire Pigtail for Optronics Trailer Lights # A47PB. Then to wire the trailer you will just need a 4-way harness like part # A35W42B. This is 35' long so you can cut it down to size for your trailer.
It looks like you did order a 4-flat harness for your Mazda, so that vehicle will already be prepped for the trailer plug. Install the lights and wire up the trailer and you will be good to go. Take a look at the video and article I linked for you below.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
