How Far from the Front of My Cargo Trailer do I Mount the Tow-Rax Chock for Harley Tri-Glide?

Question:

I have a 1200 lb. 2022 Harley Tri-Glide and going to haul it in a tandem axle 7X16 box cargo trailer. Planning to use the Tow-Rax chock in the front, but not sure how far forward I need to place the bike and the chock. Any ideas?

Hello Rocky,

That sounds like a great setup, hauling your 2022 Harley Tri-Glide in a 7x16 tandem axle trailer with a Tow-Rax chock # TWSPWM is a solid plan. A good place to start is by setting the front tire about 12 to 18 inches back from the front wall of the trailer. That usually puts the bike’s rear wheels near or just in front of the trailer axles, which helps spread the weight out nicely. The goal is to have the right amount of tongue weight on the front of the trailer, if you put it back too far and the tongue weight is too light it will cause the trailer to sway. Make sure the bike is centered side to side, then strap it down securely. Once you find a spot that feels balanced and tows well, you can bolt down the chock and maybe mark the floor so it's easy to load it in the same place next time.

Did you need some tie-down straps and anchor points to complete the set-up? Where are you going to be hauling the bike to, and fun bike weeks in the near future?

Hey Rocky, how did it go setting the Tow-Rax chock about a foot or so back from the front wall of your trailer? Did that placement give you a good balance and smooth towing with your Tri-Glide? Your update could make it easier for others hauling similar bikes.
