What Type of Grease Should be Used on Curt 5th Wheel Hitches?

Published 03/19/2025

Question:

I have a Curt A16 fifth wheel hitch, and am looking for recommendations on the proper grease for general maintenance, but not for the skid plate, as I have a puck for that. The manual gives all the grease points, but does not call out a particular grease. Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out, Randy!

You'll want to use regular axle or molybdenum grease, according to my contact at Curt. Not sure why they don't have it in the instructions for your Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # C16520-16021, but we've got the info for you now.

He did say to avoid the red and tacky grease because it does a better job at attracting dirt than the normal grease types do.

If you don't have some of the regular or molybdenum grease, then we've got you covered with the LubriMatic Moly EP Grease # LM54FR.

Let me know if you have any other questions about your 5th wheel hitch or towing in general!
