Can 7-Way RV Plug Be Used On A Trailer?

Updated 11/04/2025 | Published 01/23/2025

Question:

I just purchased a Curt pigtail to replace the original one on my Amerilite snowmobile trailer. It says RV on the tag but the colors look like they all match up. Will this work with my trailer?

Hello Roger. Yes, the Curt pigtail you mentioned can indeed be used on your trailer. The tag is basically saying the plug is pinned/wired to the standard for RV 7-way plugs. Travel trailers use this same standard color coding so they will work together without issue. I have included a picture of the standard 7-way RV color coding below for your reference.

Feel free to reach out if you need anything else. We offer a ton of parts for snowmobile trailers if you are ever in need. Although we generally don't get enough snow down here in Missouri to be able to use a snow machine, but we deal with the trailers a lot :)

Hey Roger, how did things go with the Curt pigtail on your Amerilite trailer? Did the color coding line up the way you expected? Sharing how it worked could help others replacing their trailer wiring too.

@RogerL Haha I can 100% relate to that, Roger! Sounds like it all worked out in the end though which is good to hear. Feel free to come back anytime you need anything!
