Question:
Hi I have the trailer package on my 08 Honda Pilot w/flat four connector. I need a flat 5 for my boat trailer surge brakes. Where do I find that fifth wire? I know it atttaches to the backup light power but am looking for an easy way to connect to it.

You have a couple options for locating the reverse light circuit for the 4 to 5-Way adapter # 47515 on your 2008 Honda Pilot. The first, which would require some time and probably trim removal, would be to inspect the door area and see if you can locate where the factory harness runs out of the door and toward the front of the vehicle. If the wiring runs out in a way that you will not have enough space to tap into it, you would need to remove trim pieces or even the headliner to reach it.
The second option would require running a wire from front to back, but it would be the easiest in my opinion. Go to your fuse block under the hood and locate the fuse for the reverse light circuit. You could use a Firestone circuit tap kit # F2526 to this fuse and then run the wire all the way back to the blue wire on the 4 to 5-Way adapter. Following factory wiring should give you the best route along the vehicle frame.
We offer some 16-gauge wire by the foot if needed, part # 16-1-1. I am including links to FAQs that have diagrams and information that should help.
