Should A RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack Be Repaired Or Replaced After Getting Rear-Ended
Published 07/15/2024 >
Question:
My vehicle was backed into with my RockyMounts monorail rack on it in the up stowed position. The rack bent in various locations and some of the plastics are cracked. I know there are parts available, what Im not sure of is how to tell which parts may need replaced or if this is just a total replacement situation. Insurance has asked me to get estimates which I can do for the vehicle, but Im not quite sure how to handle the rack. Thank you, Tyler

Hey Tyler,
You could likely replace most of the components on your RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack # RKY10004, but you won't truly know the full extent of the damage to rack so its integrity might be compromised and could potentially lead to damage to your bikes. Replacement parts are likely going to end up costing more than the bike rack depending on how much is broken so your safest bet would be to completely replace the bike rack and have your insurance consider it a total loss.
