Should the Furrion Tankless Water Heater Be Plugged Into Shore Power for It To Work Properly?

Updated 06/17/2024 | Published 05/10/2023

Question:

My tankless hot water doesn’t get above about 90-95 when not plugged into shore power or without the generator running. Is this typical? Batteries are charged.

I spoke with Furrion about your Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot # FR93FR and they mention that in order for the unit to get proper power and function as intended it needs to be plugged into shore power.

The reason you're not able to get the water heater to heat above 95 degrees is because the unit is being improperly powered. To fix the issue, you'll just need to simply plug the unit in and it should return to normal; If it does not, then you may have something else going on and we'll have to dig a bit deeper.

So my forest river has a tankless water heater and I am getting an error code E5 could that be-because I am running on battery and need shore power or generator and it’s not getting enough power? I am worried trailer is less then 30 days old and first time trying to use it.

@TravisC Travis it's not likely a power supply issue since an E5 power code means that there is an exhaust blockage. What you're going to need to do is get to the exhaust tube and clear it out and check to see if the error cleared. If it doesn't or you've already cleared it, then there might just be a manufacturer defect and would need replaced.
