How To Wire In Additional Panels To A Furrion Solar Panel System

Question:

How do you wire two panels in parallel on grand design rv roof top if you don’t make a y-cable adaptor

Furrion unfortunately does not sell their connectors separately for some unknown reason and I haven't seen any Y-adapter connectors like you'd see with any other system. When it comes to connecting them together the only way to is in series (diagram below) which changes your voltage to 24v with the supplied connector when you purchase their panels. The only workaround for this is to use two separate solar controllers and essentially run each system separately to the battery.

If I was in this situation I would not get another Furrion Solar Panel # FR73SR, and would instead get the Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # 34282181. You can still keep your Furrion solar system in place and just run this system separately. Both charge controllers will read the battery life percentage and adjust their charge accordingly so you won't have any issues with overcharging the battery bank.

This would also allow you to expand the Go Power system later on down the road if needed as well.

I'm in the same boat with Furrion solar roof connector. I have a Furrion 12vdc 165W panel with the Furrion connections. I am adding a 12vdc 195w panel with MP4 connections. Furrion wants too much for their adaptor ($48 x 2= $96), wouldn't it be easier to convert the roof panel and Furrion plugs to the MC4 plugs as they are more affordable? What problems would I run into?

@JohnS If that's something you'd consider doing that would be a smart idea. We have MC4 connectors with the part # RED98VR.
