Recommended Replacement for Atwood GC10A-4E RV Water Heater

Updated 06/11/2025 | Published 09/28/2022

Question:

I keep reading that a direct replacement for Atwood GC10A-4E Water Heater is the Atwood RV Water Heater - Gas and Electric - part # AT94022 but I can’t find it anywhere. What would be an alternative?

The best replacement option we offer for a Atwood GC10A-4E Water Heater is tankless, the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater part # FR68SR. It won't be a direct replacement but still pretty easy nonetheless as they are very similar. That said, you won't have to worry about enlarging the cutout or anything like that, just switching over some fittings and wires is all. The tankless design means pretty much an endless supply of hot water which is a big improvement over the ten gallon tank you'll be replacing.

There is no direct replacement available for a Atwood GC10A-4E RV Water Heater.

What is the warranty on the Furrion Tankless rv water heater (part #Fr68sr)? I looked through all the details and the reviews and didn’t see anything about a warranty.

@AnthonyE There are wiring instructions on page 17 of the instructions manual for the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR68SR, but there aren't specifics for different water heaters. If you've never done a water heater installation then we recommend having someone experienced help you out, or have a professional install it for you.

If the GC10A-4E is no longer available Is there a replacement that was 12v and lp gas? Thank you

@Robh We have some other options that use power and gas, like the Dometic # DMC93RR, but this has a 6-Gallon tank as opposed to your 10-Gallon, and the Furrion tankless options still offer a better performance, so I echo what Conner says about getting a tankless as a replacement. If you choose to go with the Dometic, you'll need a cutout that measures 12-3/4" tall x 12-3/4" wide x 19-7/8" deep.

@Sandra The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater item # FR68SR does require electricity to power the controls but gas is what's used to heat the water.
