How To Hook Up an Enclosed Trailer with Electric Lights and Outlets
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I want to put power in my 20 foot enclosed trailer. I would like a couple lights, six outlets and one light switch. The trailer does not have A/C. I will use a generator to power the trailer, sometimes connect to power at a campground. Do you sell a kit or could you complete one for me to purchase? Thank you

I do have some parts for you but we aren't custom trailer builders and adding electric to a trailer is not a simple task. What I can tell you is that most interior lights are 12 volt so if you want outlets, lights, and shore power you'd need both 12V DC and 110/120V AC. In order to to do this you'll first need to start with a panel like the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger part # PD4135K. This is the main unit that you will run the circuits to and from so it's where you'll need to start. Then, you'll need a shore power cord and power inlet, the SmartPlug RV Power Cord and Black Inlet part # SM69FR. The rest of the process is wiring and selecting your accessories. I have attached some lights below but we don't really carry AC stuff like outlets, switches, and wires so you will need to pick these up locally.
