Question:
I have an m416 trailer and would like to get your recommendation on an axle with the ability to install and use the stock cable brakes. Also, I will pull with a 1970 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. What wiring harness do you recommend for the vehicle? I plan to use a 4 pin on the m416.

Starting off with wiring for your 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser, I recommend using the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester 3 # 18252. This will add the 4-way connection at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights.
For the M416 trailer axle there are no options that will allow you to use the stock cable brakes. What you are going to need is a Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension like the # ASR2KHDS03. This uses # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K hubs and from there, if you still want to use brakes, you will need 10" brake assemblies like the # 23-468-469.
This also means you would need to add additional trailer and vehicle wiring. To take care of the wiring I recommend the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # HS381-9000 which will install on the trailer tongue and give you a junction box to make all of the wiring connections. You will need # 10-1-1 to go from the junction box to one wire on each brake assembly and you will ground the other wire on the brake assemblies to the frame of the trailer. I recommend using # DW05745-10 for the connections.
On the vehicle side you will need the # ETBC7 for a 7-way as well as a brake controller like the # RED44FR so the brakes will receive power and function correctly.
I have attached some review and installation videos along with a link to all of our Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension options that you can check out.
