Question:

What tire chains would you recommend for my 1997 Roadtrek with the tire size LT245/75R16? I prefer actual chains rather than cable chains with some kind of V pattern rather than step ladder.

For great tire chains for your standard 245/75-16 tires on your 1997 Dodge Roadtrek Van, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains w/ Cams - Ladder Pattern - V-Bar Link # TC2821CAM. These chains come with V-bar links that are designed to provide you excellent traction in deep snow and ice. Also, the cam tighteners provide you with an even more snug fit around your tires. For these chains, I recommend tensioners # TCMA2 to take away the headache of having to adjust and tighten the chains after each trip. It is important to note that since these chains are 5.5mm in thickness, they will require a bit more wheel well clearance. It is always recommend to measure your wheel well clearance to the closest component in order to make sure you have plenty of space. I went ahead and linked a diagram that shows you how to observe the clearance you have.

If you find that you have limited wheel well clearance, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2323. Even though these do not have the V-bars you are looking for, they only have a link thickness of 3.7mm. Also, they come with tensioners already so you do not need to buy them additionally. For these chains, you need to have a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well and at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself. This is a great general guideline for wheel well clearance with the # TC2821CAM as well.
