What Is The Purpose Of The O-Ring On A POL Fitting
Published 09/30/2021 >
Question:
The fitting on my RV has the ACME nut with the part that goes into the tank valve has no o-ring. There is a slight propane odor at this location. I’ve seen POLs with and without o-rings. Is there any issue with a new fitting with an o-ring going into the tank which also has a rubber seal, which I assume all tanks have.

Expert Reply:
No, there's no problem with having an O-ring on the end of your POL fitting like the Propane Hose - POL Pigtail x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 20" # 37207-30625. The O-ring is going to help eliminate the odor you're smelling by helping form a tighter seal.
