Are Electric Brake Assemblies Submersible When Used on Boat Trailer

Question:
Are these electric drum brakes suitable for being submersed as part of a boat trailer? If not, can you recommend some electric drum brakes for a 3500# axle?

In the past, we were of the opinion that electric trailer brakes weren't a good choice for boat trailers. Electricity and water don't mix, right?
In the last 10 years or so, boat trailer manufacturers went to using electric brakes because they're less expensive, less finicky, and are easier to use than hydraulic brakes. Come to find out, electric brakes work just fine on boat trailers, but you'll want to be sure to unplug your trailer before backing the boat in.
The Dexter # 23-468-469 10 x 2 self-adjusting brake assemblies you'd looked at would work great for you. I'll link to an article that explains how to make the initial adjustment to the brake assemblies and how to properly break them in for the best performance.
