Choosing Correct Bearing Buddy Size for 2001 Coleman Taos Tent Camper
Question:
I have a 2001 Coleman Taos tent camper that I would like to install bearing buddies on. The diameter, as close as I can see, is just shy of 2. I do not have access to a caliper measuring device. Any idea what size I would need? Thanks

The particular bearing buddy you reviewed, part # BB1781, fits a hub bore of 1.781 inches and an outer bearing number # LM11949.
Trailer and camper manufacturers may use different components in their products from one production run to another, so the only sure way to know what bearings are used in your Coleman Taos camper is to pull the wheel and hub and check the outer bearing number. Please refer to the photo provided.
The next best method is to measure the hub bore using a digital caliper. Many auto parts stores will loan or rent such tools.
I have included a link to our department page for bearing protectors where you can see the various sizes available. You will notice that we have three different sizes that are just under 2 inches: 1.938 inches, 1.968 inches and 1.98 inches.
Once you have either measured the hub bore with a caliper or confirmed the outer bearing number on your camper you can select the appropriate size bearing buddy and choose either a chrome-plated or stainless steel version.
