Backup Camera & Monitor For Trailer Pre-Wired With Voyager WiSight Plate

Question:

I have a 2021 Dutchman Astoria 2503REF 5th wheel that has a platefoot on the rear at the top for mounting a wireless camera. In looking at your website there are a lot of different cameras that have lots of cables and other things so its very confusing. I believe all I need is the camera that will connect directly to my plate and a wireless receiver that I will use in the truck cab area. What model should I be looking at?

Thanks so much for the photo, it was super helpful, and what it shows is that your trailer has the Voyager WiSight Pre-Wire Plate. This will allow you to mount the Voyager WiSight camera system:

- Voyager WiSight Wireless RV Backup Camera System # ASA24YR

This camera is super easy to install because your trailer was pre-wired; all you need to do for the camera is remove the plate, which is held in by screws, and there will be a connector under the plate for the camera. Then mount the camera using the same screws that were holding the plate on. After that just plug the monitor in to your tow vehicle's 12 volt outlet, pair the monitor and camera, and you're done.

Hey Kyle S, I have a 2022 Dutchman Astria, with the prewired backup camera shown like the photo for the 2021, except when I removed the Voyager plate, all I have is a hole and a green wire with no end to the wire. I had no other wires coming out of the hole. I pulled on the wire, and it stopped with no end. I have a couple of feet of the green wire. No white wire. I have the Voyager WiSight 2.0 Wireless Backup Camera System w/ Night Vision for Prewired RVs - 7" Screen and the Voyager PWM Filter for Voyager RV Camera Systems - CEC Connector Part Number: VGR74VR. Ordered from eTrailer last week. I think I need the other filter? Also, how do I wire the Camera connector for this setup? I have pictures if needed.

@WendellW sorry for the delay here, our comments weren't coming through properly. It honestly sounds like the connector fell down in there. I would expect there to be the prewired connector behind the plate, or at least two wires. Before you do anything I would test to see if that green wire has 12V power with your trailer lights on for the camera. If it doesn't you need to either try to fish out the connector if possible or run new wire.

@RobinH There was no connector—only a green bent wire. There are three round lights above the cover plate. I removed the light right over the plate. I found a white and green wire connected to the light. The green wire is 12V, and the white wire is the negative. I had to fish a wire from the light hole down to the connector hole. Additionally, I had to enlarge the connector hole. I had to make all the connections to wire the connector for the camera. I did not need the PWM filter to get the camera to work.
