Tandem Axle Utility Trailer Dexter Axle Replacement

Question:

I need to replace an axle on my dual axle trailer. However I cant seem to find the exact same size. My current axle is a dexter 113448143. It is 80 inch from spring center to center. If I am measuring correctly it is 93.5 from hub face to hub face. It is a 5 lug with electric brakes 4 1/4 spacing. Axle diameter is 2 3/8. I want to replace the axle, drums, and brakes and all hardware including 1 spring bolt on each side. Do you have anything would work for this? Also is it OK to replace damaged axle but not the other one? Thanks

I was able to find the exact specifications on your axle. It is a 3500lb axle with 94" hub face to hub face, 80" spring center, EZ lube straight spindle, 5 on 4-1/2" wheel bolt pattern with 1/2" studs, undermount 26" double eye leaf springs, and is wired for electric brakes.

The Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes # 7359765-EB checks off all of the boxes on your axle but one, the width. If you were to install this axle the tires would stick out 1/2" further on each side. Therefore I would recommend replacing both of your axles with the 95" length axles.

We unfortunately do not have any 94" long 3500lb axles.

I always recommend replacing the U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-1 when changing the axle as the bolts can fail from stress and deterioration over time.

You might consider when you are replacing these parts to upgrade your suspension with a Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00. This kit will give you new wet bolts with bronze bushings that will outlast the plastic ones found in most suspension systems. The E-Z Flex equalizer will also help to absorb shock to help protect your cargo and the suspension components on your trailer.
