Question:
I am wanting to allow my 12500 portable generator to run off to tanks. I took the automatic changeover switch off my camper but apparently the volume of propane through the switch to allow the generator to run. It has 1/4inch lines from the tanks to the switch and may be the culprit. So my question is if my Generator needs 2-3psi to run what parts do I need to make the work? more thing I forgot to mention is the generator came with a propane connection hose with a regulator that connects directly to a 20/30lb propane tank therefor I dont think I need a different regulator just the HV changeover switch and 2 pigtails to attach to propane tanks?? Im tired of switching tanks in the middle of the night...HELP!!

You are on the right track, but you will need to replace your current regulator hose as all of the automatic change over units are regulators, and you cannot have two regulators.
To determine the correct replacement regulator for your generator you will need to know the BTU per hour requirement of the generator. You should be able to find this information in the owner's manual for your generator or by contacting the generator manufacturer.
Once you know the correct BTU per hour rating your need you can choose the correct regulator. For example the MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator # 888001-MBS you were looking reaches upwards of 500,000 BTU per hour, where the Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-30395 only reaches 345,000 BTU per hour. There is also the Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-31525 which only reaches 262,500 BTU per hour.
To connect your two propane tanks to the regulator you will need the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail # 100575-30-MBS
for each tank. You will not want to use your current hose since you mentioned it has a regulator and you do not want two regulators.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
