Review of MB Sturgis Propane 888001-MBS

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator. Now, the two stage automatic changeover regulator ensures continuous gas flow, automatically changing from the low service cylinder to the full reserve cylinder on your RV. Now, a regulator is necessary to reduce cylinder pressure to a level that allows your RV appliances to function as they are designed to. Basically with this system you would have two tanks, and then your tanks would connect to the regulator through pigtails, and they'd connect right here. Then you can choose whatever tank you want to draw the gas from, and so the gas would come in through the pigtail hose, it would enter the first stage which reduces cylinder pressure to 10 PSI and then it would go down to the second stage where it is then reduced to 11" WC. WC stands for water column. Then the appliance hose would connect right here, and that would carry the gas to the appliances in your RV.

It does feature a gauge indicator. This allows you to see the tank pressure, especially when it's decreasing or starting to run out of pressure. It's a top view indicator so it's easy to read and easy to monitor. It does come with a mounting bracket as well as screws, and you will need to pick up pigtails and appliance hose. Those items are sold separately and available at etrailer.com.

When it comes to the connection points, your inlets are the same so it has the dual 1/4" inch female inverted flare inlets, and then the outlet is a 3/8" FNPT outlet. That stands for female national pipe thread. The high flow second stage design allows high flow at very low tank pressure, and it does have the ergonomic switch over lever, which makes changing the tanks very quick and very easy. The flow capacity is 400,000 BTU per hour, temperature range is -20 degrees Fahrenheit to +120 degrees Fahrenheit. When it comes to the certification, it's UL 144 certified, and this unit is designed for use with LP gas only.

That's going to do it for today's look at the MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator.

Does this regulator need to be protected for the weather

This regulator is designed to be used on propane tanks that are installed on the outside of many trailers. If you can protect it from the weather it would be helpful, but not essential. However, keep in mind this regulator is not designed to work in extreme environments. The operating range of this item is -20 degrees F to 120 degrees F.
