Recommended Travel Trailer Rated Platform Bike Rack

Updated 01/26/2021 | Published 01/22/2021

Question:

I am looking for a 4 bike rack that will work on my travel trailer. I have a class 3 hitch on the back, but I cant find a bike rack that says it is ok to use on a travel trailer. Some say a motor home, but I havent found one yet that says travel trailer. Is there anything out there? I also carry different size bikes, so I would like it to be the platform type.

I have a solution for you, but at this time there is not a 4-bike platform rack that is rated for use on the back of a travel trailer. This is due to the increased movement on the back of travel trailers that causes regular bike racks to fail.

With that being said, I recommend using the Swagman Traveler XC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S64663 in the Class III trailer hitch receiver on the back of your travel trailer to carry two of the bikes, and then adding the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275 to the tongue of your trailer that will allow you to install another Swagman # S64663.

The Swagman # S64633 is rated for use on a travel trailer, weighs in at 36lbs, and can support two bikes weighing up to 35lbs each with tires up to 3-1/2" wide. Since the Stromberg Carlson # CC-275 only has a maximum weight capacity of 100lbs, you will only be able to carry two bikes weighing 32lbs each on the tongue mounted carrier.

If you were ok with going with a hanging style rack, the Swagman XP - 4 Bike Rack for 2" Trailer Hitches # S64940 which is also travel trailer approved and would allow you to carry 4 bikes weighing up to 35lbs each with frames up to 2" in diameter.

I included videos for all of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
