Question:
I am going to purchase the NOCO 329-GENM1 with cigarette charger for my 1999 Porshe Boxster... Is it safe for the vehicle and wiring to keep connected for 4-5 months throughout the winter season? No overheating through the circuits ? Or is it better to connect directly to the battery ?

Sweet car. For extended time it is best to connect the NOCO Genius Mini # 329-GENM1, directly to the battery rather than using a 12V plug # 329-GC020. Otherwise you will be running the charger cables out of the vehicle and will have to close the door on the wiring. The wiring on the 12 volt port is also fairly thin so it is not the ideal set up for charging a battery.
I recommend attaching the ring terminal connections to the battery and leaving that end tucked away with the battery. Then when you want to charge the battery you can pull it out and attach the charger. These connections are included with the charger.
