Recommended Kayak Carrier for Yakima OverHaul Ladder Rack

There is one kayak carrier that stands above the rest that will fit the Yakima OverHaul HD - 68" Crossbars # Y01151-58 or 78" Crossbars # Y01151-59, which is the Yakima ShowDown # Y04081.

I highly recommend the ShowDown to carry your kayaks for one reason - convenience. The ShowDown is a lift assist carrier which takes the brunt of the work off of you and onto the carrier. So after a long day of kayaking you don't have to put a heavy kayak up and over your head and onto a carrier on your OverHaul, the ShowDown will do a lot of that work.

The ShowDown is a premium option because of its lift assist, so if you were looking for something more basic, I recommend a J-style carrier, the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878.

This is a strong carrier that is padded to protect your kayaks and folds down for when you aren't using them. Both this carrier and the ShowDown also come with tie-downs, saving you from having to make a separate purchase for those.
