Roof Rack and Surf Board Carrier for 2014 Ford Escape

Question:

Hello, I have a 2014 Ford Escape and need cross roof bars to carry a surfboard. I also have a panoramic sunroof so I need to make sure that what I purchase will work with my rooftop. Please let me know ...thank you

The 2014 Ford Escape has two possible roof configurations. It'll either have a bare roof, or rails along the roof edge that run from front to back.

If you have the bare roof, I'd recommend The Rhino Rack Vortex Aero rack, part # RR49QR.

If you roof has the side rails, I'd go with the Malone AirFlow2 rack, part # MPG216.

Both racks are compatible with the glass roof, but it's a good practice to NOT open the roof with the rack in place.

To secure the boards to the roof rack, I'd go with a simple Surfboard Pad kit from Rhino-Rack, part
# RRRWP05. The kit includes two pads that wrap around the roof rack crossbars protect the surfboard plus the tie down straps.
