Meaning of Different Load Range Ratings for Single and Dual Tires on Westlake # LHWL410
Updated 10/04/2019 | Published 10/03/2019 >
Question:
I actually have two questions regarding this product. 1. I note that the maximum load for this tire is 4,400 lbs @ 110 psi for a single tire and 3860 lbs @ 110 psi for dual tires. Is this dual tire reference to two tires side by side on one side of an axle OR, one tire in front of the other on two axles fifth wheel? 2. What does the 129 /125 in front of the L speed rating mean? Thanks!

The two maximum load ratings listed for the Westlake ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL410 refer to single rear wheels or dually wheels on a trailer. The dual tire rating of 3,860 pounds at 110 psi refers to having two tires on each side of a single axle.
If you have a tandem axle trailer (with two tires per axle) each tire would have the single tire rating of 4,400 pounds at 110 psi.
The "129/125" you see listed before "L" on the sidewall is another indication of the tire's load rating, more specifically the "Load Index". The numbers refer to a load index chart for trailer tires that correlates numbers to the weight capacity. On this chart 129 is for a 4,400 pounds and 125 is for 3,860 pounds (again differentiating between single and dual tire applications).
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
