Torque Specs for Trailer Wheel Lug Nuts That Use 17 mm Socket  

Question:

Hi, I have a 4 bolt trailer wheels on a 6 x 4.5 utility trailer with 17mm lug nuts. What is the recommended torque setting for these?

If you are using a 17 mm socket for your trailer wheel lug nuts then you actually have 12mm lug nuts. The proper torque specs for this size is 70 to 80 foot pounds, as indicated on the attached chart.

A 17 mm size lug nut would be very odd on a trailer but if this is truly what you have please let me know and I will be happy to try and find the correct specs.
