Panel Dimensions on BAKFlip F1 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK72311

Updated 08/31/2020 | Published 10/22/2018

Question:

i have a auxiliary fuel tank/tool box in the bed of my long bed F350, and a 5th wheel hitch. I would like to know what the short dimension on the front segment is to relocate the box back to allow room to open the lid on the box. also what is the dimension of the next section on the cover if I wanted to leave it down when towing, to provide the necessary clearance. I am trying to figure out if will work the as I envision. thanks for any help you can provide.

The short front header on the BAKFlip F1 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK72311 referenced in your question measures 6-1/2 inches long. When you add the seal the cover will take up a total of around 7-1/2 to 8 inches of bed space when it's folded up against the back of the cab.

Then from there the cab panel measures 22 inches long, the two center panels each measure 20 inches long, and the rear panel measures 19 inches long.

This particular hard tonneau cover is an excellent choice for your 2012 Ford F-350 long bed. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.

I would like the same dimensions for the BAK-448330 and for the same reason, a tool box at the front of the bed and a 5th wheel hitch. Additionally would like the dimension for the track width inside the bed rail, the height thickness of the cover when it folded forward exposing the hitch and the distance from the front to the edge of the cover folded forward flat.

For the BAKFlip MX4 # BAK48330 that you mentioned: Short panel at front will take up about 5" - 6" of space in your bed. The next panel measures about 20" wide so altogether you're looking at 26" of space at the front of your bed in regards to your 5th wheel hitch location. The rails are about 2-1/2" - 3" thick and you'll need about 3" of clearance below your bed rails so there is no interference between your hitch or your toolbox. Each panel is about 9/16" thick so you will just add 9/16" for each fold you make.

Looking at a video of this cover there is a joint section between the panels that would increase the height when folded. I assume there are 4 panels of different widths so if 3 of them are folded on top of the front panel that should be about (3x9/16) 1 3/4-ish plus the 1/2" the front panel is above the bed rail so about 2 1/4. From pictures and video is appears to be much more than that. Any idea what that actual height is? Looking at a tool chest similar to UWS EC20501 with offset lid so a cover can be left flat over the chest giving access to the hitch, then lifted up to gain access to the toolbox. Thank you

The 9/16" thickness is what my contact at BAK told me so I don't really have a different measurement to take - you'll need to reach out to BAK if you think it should be something else. As long as your toolbox sits 3" below the top of your truck bed sides it will fit under the BAKFlip.
