Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2018 Dodge Durango Towing 2018 Flagstaff T21TBHWSE
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2018 Dodge Durango AWD 3.6L with the tow package. From what I know the tow package has a 6,200 lbs tow capacity and a 620lbs tongue capacity. It also has self leveling suspension. I am towing a 2018 Flagstaff T21TBHWSE made by Forest River. The tongue weight on this goes between 400 and 420 lbs. I think im on the edge of needing a weight distribution hitch, but better on the safe side. Would the below work with my trailer? My trailer does have the box frame. Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # EQ37060ET What kind of differences would I run into with the install when dealing with the self leveling suspension on the Durango. Thanks

For a trailer with loaded tongue weight of 400-420 lbs the Equal-i-Zer kit part # EQ37060ET would be a great option as it has a tongue weight rante of 200-600 lbs. You should keep in mind too that any weight from cargo behind the rear axle of the vehicle counts as tongue weight too for choosing a weight distribution system.
When setting up the WD on a vehicle with self-leveling suspension what you need to do first is set the tongue weight on the trailer hitch so that it will start to self-level. Once the vehicle suspension has settled on where it wants to be you'd then run the WD system through it's setup process.
To install the hitch ball you will need a thin-walled socket too like the part # ALL643216.
