To flat tow a vehicle you need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.
The only base plate kit that we offer for your 1995 Chevrolet Astro is the Classic Base Plate Kit # 184-15. This is compatible with any of the linked Roadmaster tow bars. This ranges from the cost-effective Tracker # RM-020 to the BlackHawk 2 All Terrain # RM-422. You also need safety cables like part # RM-643 that have a coiled design to help with ground clearance.
If you flat tow frequently then I recommend installing permanent wiring like the Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. Those that flat tow a little less often tend to go with magnetic towing lights like part # TL21RK as they are easily installed and removed.
For a supplemental braking system I recommend going with the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. This is a proportional system that presses the brake pedal in your Astro at the same time and with the same intensity as in your tow vehicle. If you don't have a 12V accessory outlet available for power you can install part # RM-9332.
Most flat towing setups require a high-low adapter to ensure that the tow bar is in the correct position. I have linked our selection of adapters for you to filter through as well as a helpful article that you can use to help you make your choice.
Be sure to check your owner's manual for any specific instructions for flat towing.
