Dual Propane LP Tank Setup 100 Lb for RV or Travel Trailer

Question:

Setup for a Duel 100lb tank set up. I like to use 2 of these pigtails for a duel tank setup. Can I run these pigtails from the tanks to a tee then to the regulator. Would I need to install a back flow preventer at the inlet of the regulator

Yes, the # 100019-24 pigtail can be used to connect your dual-cylinder 100 lb propane setup to the regulator on your RV. Since this hose does not have a back-check to contain a gas leak, you will need the # 204120-MBS fitting that includes a back-check. Without the back-check, your setup would not be RVIA (Recreation Vehicle Industry Association) compliant.

You mentioned that you'd like to connect to a T first, before connecting to the regulator. I called my contact at MB Sturgis to get his advice. Since you can only run one tank at a time, it is not necessary to go to a T before the regulator. He recommended using a Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator, part # CAM59005, which automatically changes from the empty tank to the full tank. It also has a gauge indicator to pre-warn you when the tank pressure is decreasing, signaling that you're starting to run out of propane.

You will also need 2 of the # 100473-20-MBS pigtails and an appliance hose like # 100383-48-MBS. (The type of hose will depend on the appliance you are using.) I've attached a photo of this setup for your convenience.

Hi I have a motorhome and I bought a 100lb propane tank. It is larger then the tank I currently have. I would like to know how I can begin using this larger tank. Also is there a rack I can put on my motorhome to hold it because it is the upright tank. My current tank is horizontal. Will I need to change the hose?

Your new tank is a DOT/portable tank - and both it and the ASME tank on your motorhome use the same POL connector/fitting, so you should still be able to use your existing hose. We don't have a way to actually mount it to your motorhome. Other than extra capacity, is there a particular reason you're trying to do this?
