For your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab with 6 foot bed, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Underbed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550022 is an excellent choice. This is a confirmed fit for your truck and will give you 14 inches of travel front to back. This will automatically slide for clearance on turns so there is no need to get out of your truck. The integrated rack and pinion gears create a controlled motion for a smooth driving experience. Cushioning polyurethane dampeners help reduce noise and road shock.
For the underbed mount compatible with this hitch and your truck, I recommend the Underbed Rail and Installation Kit for Demco Hijacker UMS 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # DM8551005. This system allows uninhibited use of your truck bed when the hitch is not installed. There are no exposed rails and the 4 holes to mount the hitch sit flush with the truck bed. The rails and installation hardware are included in the kit.
I also recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug
Item # HM42137. This will give you a second 7-way trailer wiring connection in the bed of your truck for easy access and connection.
This combination will be a great system for your 2008 Ram 2500.
